Lakshya Malhotra
My sleep broke. As soon as my phone stopped ringing, I picked it up and adjusted my eyes, looking at the screen. It was my secretary. She must have called to remind me. I called her back. She picked up on the first ring as if she was waiting for my call.
"Yes, Kavya," I said, my voice heavy as I had just woken up. She didn't answer me. I waited for a second and then said again, "Hello?".
"Umm...yes sir, sorry to disturb you." She apologized, knowing I must be sleeping, and she woke me up from my precious sleep.
"That's fine. What did you call for?" I asked her. "Sir, just to remind you that you have to be at the college by 10 am to attend the ceremony." I took a deep breath and completely woke up.
"Yes, thank you for reminding me." I remembered, but still, she made the effort and called me so early. She is really hardworking. She does her work diligently, and I'm glad that Kavya is my secretary.
"Sir, will you go alone, or should I come too?" She asked me. I frowned, wondering why she asked such a question, then I remembered that the university invited not me but the company's CEO. Oh, that's why the principal said they would send an invitation card for formality and also called personally. It means they have invited their students as well as the CEO of the company sponsoring them. I see.
I was lost in my thoughts when she asked me again. Poor thing must have been waiting for my answer. I sighed and ran my free hand through my silky and smooth hair, saying, "No need, it's not a meeting, just a ceremony. I'll go alone." She replied with an "okay."
"Anything else, Kavya?" I asked. "No sir. Do you remember that you have to go for lunch with the client today?" She reminded me again. "Yes," I replied, "okay sir. That's it." She cut the call. I put my phone on the nightstand and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
I looked in the mirror. I saw my beard; it's grown a bit. I should trim my beard. I brushed my teeth first, then I shaved my face. I looked in the mirror, admiring myself. My hair has also grown quite long, but this style suits me better. I should keep long hair. I'll look more handsome.
I stepped into the shower and turned it on. I applied some shampoo to my long hair and washed them. Then, I started applying soap on my body. I have a toned body with six-pack abs. I'm a very health-conscious person. I don't diet, but I make sure to maintain my body.
I looked down at my buddy. It must be also feeling alone as I do. A breathy chuckle escaped my mouth.
I shook my head and closed the shower, stepping out and wrapping a towel around my waist. I took my suit out of the wardrobe. It was black. Inside, there was a white shirt, black coat, black pants, and a black tie.
I was all dressed now. I combed my hair and applied perfume on myself. My perfume has a musky smell. I really like this fragrance. It feels like this scent makes me more masculine.
I took my phone, wallet, and car keys from the nightstand and locked my room. Then, I started descending the stairs. There, I saw my parents sitting at the dining table.
My father was reading the newspaper, and my mother was busy on her phone. As soon as my mother saw me, she smiled lightly and called me over.
"Good morning," I greeted her, giving her a slight hug. I also wished my father good morning. They both greeted me back. "Shall I make breakfast?" My mother asked. I nodded as I sat down on a chair and poured myself a glass of water. My mother started preparing my plate, and my father looked at me and smiled.
"Are you so well-dressed because your college have invited you?" he teased. I shook my head at him. He was teasing me, but I played along. "Yes, so what if they've invited their brilliant student, I have to go well-prepared, right, mom?," I said, smirking at my father and then looking at my mother. "Yes, absolutely," she replied.
