"Hey, about time I heard from you!" Sam cheered once she picked up the phone. "Did you miss me?

"A lot" came Miguel's voice.

Sam's smile instantly dropped.

"Please don't hang up," Miguel continued. "Aisha doesn't know I'm using her phone"

"What do you want?" Sam sighed.

"I know I screwed up, I just want things to go back to the way they were"

"Well it's not that easy" Sam replied, walking into the Miyagi Do dojo.

"Look, I'll do anything–"

The rest of Miguel's sentence was left hanging in the air as he heard a thud from the other side.

"Shit!" Sam said, apparently talking to someone in the background. "are you okay?"

"Yeah... I 'm good" a new voice grunted out.

Miguel froze. "is that... Ivan?"

"Miguel.. I can't talk right now" Sam said in a hurried tone. "Tell Aisha to call me back"

Before Miguel could get another word out, Sam immediately hung up, leaving him to stare at Aisha's phone screen in shock.

"That's rough, buddy" came a voice behind him. Miguel turned around to find Maverick looking at him. "Getting cut off and Ivan happens to be right there? That's just disrespect. My advice.. let em screw each other. Pretty boy like you got worry about... Plenty of bitches in the sea, right?"

Maverick tapped Miguel's shoulder once before walking away.

"Sorry,man" Robby said as he helped Ivan up after accidentally elbowing him in the face.

"What's up with you today?" Ivan looked at him. "Your punches are harder than usual"

"Had a tough day yesterday" Robby said simply. "I'd rather not talk about it"

Ivan looked over at Sam to see she looked upset.

"You good?" He tilted his head.

"Yeah..." Sam nodded. "Miguel just called"

"Isn't that a good thing?" Ivan asked.

"I don't wanna talk to him right now " Sam rubbed her arm.

"Sam, talking it out is the only way you'll get past this" Ivan stepped closer to her. "I'm not the best person to give relationship advice but I know communicating with him is better than ghosting him. I get it if you need space but don't just flat out tune him out.. okay?"

Sam looked at him for a second before letting out a sigh. "okay"

Ivan flashed her a smile which she couldn't help but return.

"I should probably get back to sanding that deck" Ivan jerked his head towards his chores, earning a giggle from the girl. Him and Robby shared a respectful nod when he walked past. Ivan liked Robby and wanted to help but he knew what his limits were.

He just hoped Sam and Miguel worked things out. This whole argument was starting to get tiring to watch.. plus he didn't want them breaking up as that would do no one any good.

"Alright, perfect attendance on the first day"

Ivan turned to see Daniel walking into the dojo.

"Perfect.." Ivan mouthed before speaking up. "Daniel Sensei.. about that. Maybe it's different from when I was in Cobra Kai, but when am I actually gonna start training?"
