Chapter thirty seven
"He can't handle this on his own."
The next morning, Diana was wearing a pink sweatsuit, as she came downstairs, her hair was in a ponytail, she heard Conrad on the phone "I know. But your sure there's no way to access my trust without him?" he asked, as Diana headed toward's the kitchen where he was, Jeremiah came down the stairs, following right behind her "no, I haven't..talked to him about it just yet. But, um, it won't be a problem." Conrad said, as Diana looked at him through the kitchen doorway "he's calling soon and I'll get him to sign off." Conrad said, as Jeremiah stepped around Diana, standing next to her.
"Okay. Yeah. Thank you." Conrad said, as he brought the phone down and hung up, throwing it down on the kitchen island, as he put his hand up to his forehead "hey, it's okay." Diana told him, as she walked into the kitchen, Jeremiah followed in after "yeah, you want to talk about a plan B?" he asked him "there's no time for a plan B, Jere." Conrad shared "there's no time? Come on, dude. Is you ego really that big or.." Jeremiah was telling him "aunt Julia's already here." Conrad shared.
"What?" Jeremiah asked "yeah, she got in yesterday. She's at ocean harbor." Conrad shared "you saw her?" Jeremiah asked him "I mean, we talked on the phone for about five seconds. She couldn't be bothered to come to mom's funeral, but she'll hop on the firs flight to come sell this place." Conrad shared "I don't get it. Why? What's the big rush?" Jeremiah asked "it doesn't matter why. This isn't a game, okay? This is serious shit. So just go back to bed and let me deal with it." Conrad shared, as he turned walking out the back door.
Diana let out a breath "yes, because you are doing so well at that." she said "yeah, I know, he keeps saying he's going to figure things out " Jeremiah shared, pulling one of the stools away from the counter "he hasn't figured out shit." he added on as he sat down "can..can you talk some sense into him?"" he asked, and when he did, Diana's eyes went wide "me?" she asked him "oh, come on, you've had Conrad wrapped around your finger practically since you were born. No matter what mood he's in, he'll always listen to you." Jeremiah shared, and as he did, Diana thought back to that time where he had come up to her house to hangout with Belly.
Sitting in her room, the folklore album by Taylor Swift was playing, as the song august was coming to an end, Diana sat at her desk finishing her homework having been studying, a knock came to her door "come in." she said, having no idea who it might be, as she heard the door open and shut, she turned around seeing Conrad, who sighed as he walked over to her bed and lied down on it, Diana chuckled, getting up from her desk and walking over to him "what are you doing?" she asked him "your rooms very cozy." Conrad told her, going to sleep.
Diana chuckled "yeah cause it's an actual mattress compared to what your sleeping on at school." she told him, grabbing his arms to pull him off of her bed "no.." Conrad groaned "yes.." Diana told him, laughing, as Conrad pulled her by the arms, bringing her down onto her bed with him, Diana huffed, rolling over and laying on the other side of him, the two looked up at the ceiling, and as they did, the song changed as this is me trying started playing "so, what's up with you?" Diana asked him, looking from the ceiling and over at him, and as she did, Conrad didn't say anything, as the music filled the silence.
"I've been having a hard time adjusting
I had the shiniest wheels, now they're rusting
I didn't know if you'd care if I came back
I have a lot of regrets about that."Conrad then took a deep breath "your sister brought up prom and I haven't gotten my tux yet. But I'm sure you don't have to worry about anything, Jeremiah loves this kind of stuff I mean he.." he shared "got homecoming king. Yeah." Diana told him, as the two of them laughed.
"Pulled the car off the road to the lookout
Could've followed my fears all the way down
And maybe I don't quite know what to say
But I'm here in your doorwayI just wanted you to know
That this is me trying
I just wanted you to know
That this is me trying.""And then..and then Belly mentioned the hotel suite that we're all supposed to get?" Conrad asked, and as he did, Diana chuckled "oh yeah, um..Taylor says that we have to go all out I mean she even believes that I'm gonna be prom queen." she shared, and as she did, Conrad scoffed "oh, yeah! Because becoming prom queen is a title you need. I mean your already insufferable now but if you get prom queen, it..it'll never end!" he voiced, and as he did, Diana gasped "hey!" she voiced, hitting him in the chest, Conrad chuckled "oh you know I'm right, princess!" he voiced, tickling her, and as he did, Diana started laughing "no, no, stop!" she voiced, bringing her hands up to try and push him off of her.
And Jeremiah was right, she always managed to get him out of his darkest moments, but this one? Losing the last part he had of his mother? She wasn't so sure talking to him could fix that "and say what, Jere? That..that we can save the house? That your dads gonna let him use his trust? That we should go talk to aunt Julia and try to stop her from selling? I mean what do we.." she was sharing, as Jeremiah raised his brows "no, no, Jere..I was kidding." Diana told him "yeah, but we need groceries and the stores right next to ocean harbor." Jeremiah shared.
"Conrad was on the phone with her for five seconds, what makes you think aunt Julia's not gonna slam the door in our face the second she opens it?" Diana asked him "we won't know unless we try." Jeremiah shared, getting up from the stool, he began walking out of the kitchen, and as he did, Diana turned running after him "no!" she voiced, and as she did, Jeremiah laughed, running up the stairs as Diana followed after him, knowing this was either gonna go really good or really bad.
