It was a hot summer evening, and my brother had persuaded me to come along to a party his band was throwing for the release of their new album. The party was held at a luxurious house on the outskirts of the city, and when we arrived, the garden was already full of people. There were fairy lights hanging in the trees everywhere, and the music was blaring loudly from the speakers.
My brother left me shortly after we arrived to take care of his bandmates. I stood somewhat lost at the edge of the garden, sipping my drink, when I saw her for the first time: Billie Eilish. She was standing next to my brother, laughing and chatting animatedly with him. I could hardly believe my eyes. Billie Eilish at a party my brother was hosting?
After a while, my brother noticed me and waved me over. "Hey, come here!" he called. Hesitantly, I walked over to him. "This is my sister," he introduced me, "and this is Billie."
Billie smiled at me, and I felt my heart skip a beat. "Hey, nice to meet you," she said with her husky yet friendly voice.
"Uh, hi," I stammered, feeling suddenly very awkward.
"I've heard a lot about you," Billie said, winking at me. "Your brother talks about you often."
I didn't know how to respond, so I just smiled awkwardly. My brother seemed to notice my discomfort and shifted the conversation to music. While he talked, I noticed Billie glancing at me repeatedly. Her eyes were deep and intense, and every time our gazes met, I felt a tingling on my skin.
After a while, my brother excused himself and disappeared to take care of the guests. I was left alone with Billie, and the silence between us suddenly felt very loud.
"Do you like your brother's music?" she finally asked.
"Yeah, it's really good," I replied, trying to hide my nervousness.
"I think it's great too," she said, stepping a bit closer. "But I think we should go somewhere else. It's so loud here."
Without waiting for my response, she took my hand and led me into the house. We found a quiet room, far away from the loud music and the crowds. Billie sat down on the sofa and patted the spot next to her. "Sit with me."
I obeyed, my heart pounding in my chest. We sat in silence for a while until Billie suddenly spoke. "You know, you're really sweet."
I felt myself blush. "Uh, thanks," I mumbled, hardly daring to look at her.
"I'm serious," she said, placing a hand on my knee. "It's rare to meet someone who's so genuine and real."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Billie Eilish was flirting with me? "You're pretty impressive too," I finally managed to say.
She laughed softly. "I don't hear that often. Most people are intimidated by me."
"I can understand that," I said honestly. "You're famous and so talented."
Billie shook her head. "That means nothing if you don't have someone to share these things with."
Before I could respond, she leaned in and kissed me gently on the cheek. "I really like you," she whispered in my ear.
My heart skipped a beat, and I knew that this evening would change my life forever.
