The morning after our return from Kashid, I woke up with a newfound clarity. The wise woman’s words echoed in my mind, making me realize that my feelings for Sam were more intense than I had ever acknowledged. I was in love with him. The thought was both exhilarating and terrifying.
Unsure of what to do next, I decided to confide in Shreya didi, Sudeepa aunty’s daughter. She had always been like an older sister to me, offering guidance and support whenever I needed it. I couldn't tell this to Dhwani & Gayatri for obvious reasons. Those girls are hyper and have a great panache! They'll simply drop the bomb on Sam and hell will break loose!
I called didi up but she didn’t answer. She might be busy hence she didn’t answer maybe, I thought. Soon, my phone rang. It was Priya aunty, my godmother and Sam’s Mami. I really adored her.
“Hi Ammu! How are you, dear?” she asked warmly.
“Hi Priya Mami, I’m good. How are you?” I replied, feeling a bit nervous.
“I’m well, thank you. I wanted to invite you over to our house in Mulund for a small get-together tonight. Venkat has invited your parents as well as Tarun and Namrata. Sam and his family will also be there. Ashwathy has invited Kriti as well. Ashwin unfortunately won't be there as he is in Chennai for some work purposes and will fly to Singapore directly from there. It’ll be a nice evening before we all leave for Singapore tomorrow,” she said.
My hesitation dissappeared hearing about Ashwin being in Chennai, I was a bit hesitant to face him and his family.
I agreed. “Sure, aunty. I’ll be there.”
“Great! See you tonight then,” she said before hanging up.
Later that evening, I arrived at Priya mami’s house, feeling a mix of anticipation and apprehension. My parents were already there and so were my sister and brother in law. I came later as I needed to work on a blog post. As I walked in, I was relieved to see Dhwani among the guests. Her presence always made me feel at ease.
"Ammu! You made it!" Dhwani exclaimed, giving me a warm hug.
"Of course, I wouldn’t miss it," I replied, smiling.
The gathering was lively, with everyone engaged in cheerful conversations. Venkat Mama and Priya Mami welcomed me warmly.
“Ammu, it’s so good to see you!” Priya aunty said, embracing me. “How have you been?”
“I’m good, aunty. It’s great to see everyone,” I responded, glancing around the room.
Venkat uncle nodded. “Make yourself comfortable, Ammu. We’re glad you’re here.”
I greeted everyone else, including Sam’s parents and sister Sejal.
“Hi, Sejal. How have you been?” I asked politely.
