The Beginning of the End

Chapter one - The call

I walk home with my iPod 4 in my back pocket, with Let her go by Passenger. I quietly hum the medoly. As I walk I stop to look at the forests that I spend most of my time in. I walk up to my house and try the handle. I groan, realizing I forgot my house key. I turn around and head for the woods. I find a tree, that my brother use to take me to, and I sit down at the bottom of it. I grab my backpack that I dropped beside the tree and pull out my school binder and start doing my math homework. All of me by John Legend comes on. I turn my music up and start singing along.

" You have a beautiful voice Annie" I hear a boys voice say behinde me

" Chase! I told you not to scare me!" I say glaring at him

He chuckles and sits down beside me.

" But your so easy to scare"

" I don't care" I say looking down at my binder

He crosses his arms and makes a pouty face.

" Are you making fun of me?" I ask looking up from my binder

" You hurt my feelings" he says crossings his arms like a 3 year old

I was about to reply when La Love by Fergie came on. I unplug my headphones and crank it. We both start raping the song and belting it out at the top of our lungs. When we're finished we collapse back down on the tree and laugh a bit.

" What you been up to lately peppbles?" He asks me using the nick name he made for me when we were 4.

" School" I say groaning

" Three months and your out, forever" he says smiling

" Three months and we're out forever, you do plan on passing the terms don't you?"

" I hate them, I dont understand, why do we need to pass terms to find out what rank we are!" He stands up " If I wanna work with trees, hell I'm gonna a work with trees!"

I laugh " If I wanna work with the water, hell imma work with the water!"

He laughs with me " That's the spirit pebbles!"

The smile fades off my face

" Whats wrong?" He asks sitting back down beside me

" Chase, I'm scared. After Will passed his trials and he got his powers, he left and I never saw him again. What if they kill me? What if I can't use them?" I feel the tears start running down my face. He puts his arm around me shoulders and pulls me into him

" Anna, your going to be okay, I know the whole Will thing is bugging you but once you get your powers you will fit in perfectly "

" What about you? What if we don't get put together? I can't loose my best friend " I say leaning my head against his shoulder.

" Oh Anna, you always worry about the smallest things. "

I laugh a little. We sit there for a minute and for a split second everything was perfect. I hear a faint buzzing sound and I pull my phone out of my back pack.

" Hello" I say into the phone

" Anna! Is that you?" Tears come to my eyes

" Will! Yes! Where are you?"

" Anna, I promise I will explain later, but right after you get your powers, and you get to go home. Get Chase and Lilly, and fun into the forest"

" Will, what are talking about?"

" Anna........ Have.......go....... I............you"

" Will! Will!" The phone had cut out.
