Comfort

It was a peaceful night in the Indigo forest. You were relaxing doing some dishes at your home, it wasn't like it was anything new. With the shenanigans that Rambley and his crew got up to, someone had to clean after them. And that someone was you. Heck it was better to deal with the aftermath of whatever new idea the group got in their mind or Salem's latest prank.

You sighed, yet a fond smile crept onto your face.

It wasn't like you hated being the janitor of shenanigans for your roommate. in reality you quite enjoyed it. Each day was never dull with Rambley around. The cute cheerful raccoon was always kind and whimsical. Bringing smiles and joy to anybody that was around him. Always ready to lend a hand and a hug.

Honestly, you couldn't have wished for a better roommate…

Yet something was off these last few days. Rambley often came home tired and annoyed. Sadly you also had an inkling as to why.

Lloyd, Rambley’s Boyfriend, their relationship had deteriorated to an unimaginable degree.

From what you knew there was a big issue about the ownership of the indigo park. Mainly they had agreed to give the deed to Rambley after Lloyd felt like it wasn't doing as well as he hoped. Yet the moment Rambley got his paws on it he began to revolutionize the theme park industry. Turning Indigo Park from a small time Distraction of Lloyd. Into a giant Rambley empire and the tension could be cut with a knife.

Lloyd started to get jealous of the little Raccoon ignoring his achievements and always upstaging him. Rabley at the start looked to be ok with it, yet he never was. Apparently Lloyd had begun to push Rambley into giving the park back to him now that it was a big deal. Worse is that Lloyd also had become the crew's favorite member.

You remember the times he came to cry on your lap. Venting to you about the insecurities plaguing him. But you did not know what to do. Worse is that feeling that stuff was just about to go wrong…

You finished washing the dishes before going to dry your paws. Maybe you should go to sleep early. The stress of the situation is getting to you.

Then when you were about to head to your room, the door slammed open. You could see a teary eyed and hiccuping raccoon.

You frowned and turned to look at him, your paws dry already. Stepping forwards you asked tentatively.

“Rambley are you ok?” You put a paw on his back, for his part he jumped at you, his arms wrapping around you into a tight hug. You could hear him sob, his warmth filling you with an urge to protect him. You return the hug. Rambley began to cry, his tears damping your fur. You rubbed his back, sharing your warmth with the hurt Raccoon.

It took some minutes before he even was willing to break the hug. He hiccuped, eyes red and puffy.

“Rambley… what happened?” You asked, looking fondly at him, willing to listen.

“I-i Lloyd and I broke up. I.. should have seen this coming-” he wiped a tear with his paws. “-things were just becoming too much. He might have said some things and I also did. Buddy, I just can't believe he would-” you hugged him again. Which he promptly accepted.

You two stood there for quite a while, neither of you willing to break the hug. Yet it could last forever. Rambley pulled away. “I’m sorry Buddy… I hate it, you have to see me like this. Ugh… I'm such a mess.” He looked down at his fur and yours.

“We probably need to take a bath. I’ll be going first, ok Buddy?” if smiles could kill. You would have died right now. He quickly went upstairs to take a bath. You smiled. You would do anything for that Raccoon. Your heart skipped a beat when you thought of him. Maybe one day you could tell him how you really feel.
