(Y/N) POV

I let out a heavy sigh as I close my eyes, leaning back against the hard metal of the helicopter just trying to get comfortable. It was a few hours to fly to where Task Force 141 was stationed currently. I was hoping to get some kind of nap in before meeting my new team, but my nerves were high.

My best friend, Theo, on the other hand was fast asleep beside me. I roll my eyes. I don't know how this man could fall asleep almost instantly. I chuckle as I hear soft snoring coming from him. I pull out my phone and earbuds, playing some soft music to drown out the sounds of the helicopter.

Music was my comfort thing. I focused better when I was listening to music, it calms me, hypes me up, and just a lifeline for me. I don't have much for hobbies, occasionally I'll attempt to write poems like I used to in high school, but the military became my main focus. One thing I never gave up was my love of tinkering, I am known for being able to fix shit and create random shit. They wanted me to be an engineer, but I wanted to be out on the field more.

I readjust and cross my arms over my body as I try to fall asleep to my music. It didn't take long for me to doze off after that.

Ghost POV

I groan as I make my way to the cafeteria. This morning's workout with Soap really kicked my ass, but the distraction was nice. Only yesterday, Price announced we would have a new recruit joining us, Laswell's order apparently. They were supposed to be showing up today and I wasn't excited to have some newbie interfering with my team.

I tried to change Price's mind, but he agreed with Laswell that this recruit would be a good addition to our team. So, all I could do was kill time until they showed up and hope to scare them away or make them so miserable they quit.

"Yo, Ghost? You there buddy?" Soap chuckles from beside me as we sit down with our food.

"Hmm? Yeah," I mumble back, not really in the mood to talk.

"Mind on the new recruit? I know you don't like others coming into the team," he pries.

I roll my eyes as I lift my mask to my nose, just enough to shove food into my mouth. He laughs and starts digging into his own plate. I knew he could read me better than most, he was one of the people I trusted most on my team.

We eat in silence. Something I was grateful for. Afterwards, I head to the showers to remove the layer of sweat and dirt from working out this morning.

By the time I was done, I heard Price gathering everyone, "Heads up boys, heli is 5 minutes out. I want everyone out front before then."

I roll my eyes, but follow the order, making my way outside. It doesn't take long for everyone to gather and watch the helicopter approach. I shift in my spot to lean up against the wall as it lands.

I watch carefully but show no interest in greeting the new recruit as the cargo door opens in the back. Price walks up as a younger man walks out stretching and shakes his hand. He had dark curly hair, tall, and decently built, one of those lean but strong types.

I was ready to turn and leave before noticing him turn around and talk to someone behind him. I pause as I watch this smaller figure walk out from behind him and shake Price's hand.

Price walks over with both people trailing behind him and as they get closer, I realize the smaller figure was a woman with (y/c/h) pulled back out of her face and a half mask covering the lower half of her face. My eyes widen in surprise and quickly turns into a glare at Price as I realize very quickly, we weren't getting one new recruit but two.

Price stops in front of the team and introduces them, "These are our new recruits. Theo and (y/n)."

My eyes are trained on her, (y/n) was it? It is incredibly rare to get a female recruit on a special force team, especially one like this. She was small, maybe 5'3" or 5'5", but she held herself well.

She looks at each member of the team with a bored look on her face as she nods her head in acknowledgement as her partner greets everyone and shakes hands. Our eyes meet, and I watch her look me up and down with a curious look. Her attention is drawn away from me as the team introduces themselves and she shakes Soap's hand.

"Nice to meet you all," she says, her voice gentle but rough, "I am grateful for the chance to be part of your team, well we both are."

Y/N POV

I wake up to Theo shaking me awake, I slap his hands off me as I try to go back to sleep. I hear him mumble curses before he yanks my earbuds out of my ears and my eyes shoot open.

"Asshole!" I exclaim as I glare up at him.

He smirks in amusement and victory as he hums, "Well that's what you get for ignoring me and trying to go back to bed missy."

I roll my eyes as I snatch back my headphones from him. "Yeah, well I was enjoying my nap thank you very much."

He mocks me as he says in the same tone, "Yeah well we are here, so get over it (y/l/n)."

I groan as tuck my headphones away and stand-up stretching, "Fuck, here we go."

This earns a chuckle from him as he takes the lead and walks out first. I take a deep breath and center myself before walking out after him.

The bright sunlight has me squinting as my eyes focus on Theo talking to someone. I recognize him as Price from the briefing we had with Laswell, so I walk up beside Theo.

Price reaches out and shakes my hand firmly, "Welcome (y/n). I'd like you both to meet your new team." He gestures behind him at the small group of men, and we follow him over.

Price introduces us to the men, "These are our new recruits. Theo and (y/n)." Theo is quick to shake hands and start chatting.

The man he was talking to introduces himself as Soap. Soap pointed to each of the team members as he said their names. I keep my face bored as I look at each member. My eyes pause on the one he introduces as Ghost as our eyes meet. I can't help but look him up and down as Soap mumbles something about him always being grumpy and to not mind him.

I admit he definitely looks grumpy. His eyes were cold as he looks back at me. My eyes scan his body and I take in how tall he was. He is tall and well built. He definitely works out.

I turn back to Soap as he reaches out his hand for me to shake and I take it, "Nice to meet you all. I am grateful for the chance to be part of your team, well we both are."

I can feel Ghost drilling holes into us and I get the feeling he isn't very happy to have new recruits, but then again most tight-knit teams aren't. I glance up at Theo who has also noticed the glare and shrugs with a playful smile. I shake my head and smile from underneath my mask.

"This will be interesting," I mumble quietly to myself.

~Author's Note: I am excited to be starting this to share with all of you. This is the first fanfiction I have written in a few years and updates may be slow, but I will always try to give some longer chapters to make up for the slow updates. I love hearing from you readers and cannot wait to hear your feedback.

This story will be mostly made up but still based off of Call of Duty and their characters, I just won't be following the game plots and making some new missions and such.~
