"Don't move baby," Tré pushed my head back down on the pillow as my eyes adjusted to the light. "Oh my fuckin' god Tré," I rolled my eyes as I turned on my back and threw my arm above my head to stare at the ceiling. "Bitch I said don't move," Tré growled as she snatched my arm back in place so she could try to go back to drawing me. My eyes went so wide as I started rising back up. Tré had been showing me so much affection lately. She let me touch it a couple times. And we were connecting on a different level. Typically I was the one to bust my ass trying to spoil Tré because I had to damn near kill myself to compete. My clientele was finally growing though so playing catch-up wasn't taking so much out of me anymore. But I was starting to truly wonder just what the fuck had her thinking it was okay for her to talk to me like this? "Who the fuck do you think you talking to Treasure?!"
She threw that notepad over her shoulder and hopped into my lap choking me and kissing all over me.
Two Hours Later
"Oh... Miss Dot, hey good mornin'," I said as I found her in the kitchen about to pour herself a cup of tea. "Hey suga. How you doing today?"
"I'm alright. I was hoping you could help me with something," I started and she just nodded while stirring her tea, standing there in the furry cardigan set that I made custom for her.
"I need Treasure's social security number," I said and she looked up at me like I was crazy.
"And what exactly do you need her social security number for?"
I fought like crazy not to roll my eyes. "She needs to go to the doctor and I don't want it to cost an arm and a leg. I was trying to set up some medical insurance for her."
"Okay. So why didn't you ask Tré?"
"Tré don't wanna go. She won't even give me a day I can make the appointment for."
"What's this appointment for anyway?"
I shook my head. "I don't think it's my place to say," I declined to tell my girl's business meekly.
Truthfully, there were a lot of things I respected about Miss Dot. I respect that she was bold enough to try to mend her relationship with her children. I respect the fact that she left Irving to pursue a relationship with her kids. And I even respect the fact that she was willing to start from zero and sell damn near everything she had to even be able to do all of that. But what I didn't respect was Miss Dot thinking whatever she was thinking in regard to me asking for Treasure's social security number. Granted, Miss Dot hasn't known me for long. I can understand her hesitation when it comes to somebody asking for sensitive information like that. But I felt like if Treasure trusted me then there wasn't any reason for Miss Dot not to.
"Well you asking for my daughter's social security number because you saying she needs insurance. Treasure don't already have insurance? For her therapist she sees two and three times a week?"
I almost let the scoff that tried so bad to flee me escape and I wet my bottom lip and looked up into the ceiling light. "No. She don't. And that's why she's been paying four and five hundred dollars for y'all sessions every week lately. This shit is already expensive. And Treasure already doesn't want to go to the doctor. So I figured if I could make it less of burden to us as a unit she'd have one less reason to fight me on this."
"Five hundred dollars? That don't seem like no issue with the way my daughter run out of here chasin' that money."
"Money is far from an issue. But just because we got it like that it don't mean we should spend it."
