Tenko awoke from his sleep to the sound of knocking on his door.
"Rise and shine, Tenko! Breakfast's ready!"
The little boy stretched his arms with a yawn, needing time to remember where exactly he was. He still needed some time to get used to the new scenery, but he was enjoying his time here, even if it hadn't been too long.
He changed out of his pajamas and headed downstairs to the kitchen, finding you plating up his breakfast on the table.
"You're just in time,"
You smiled at him warmly as he hopped up onto his seat."Tenko, what do you think of your gloves?"
He glanced at his pink gloves for a moment. To be frank, he wasn't that big of a fan of how they were pink, but he also didn't want to seem ungrateful. The last thing he wanted to do was make you unhappy, especially if you might somehow end up like his father.
He jolted when he heard your booming laugh,
"Tenko, you can be honest with me,"A little embarrassed, Tenko expressed that while he was happy with the gloves he had, he'd prefer a different color.
"See, that wasn't so hard, was it? I'll get you some new gloves when I can, alright?"
He nodded, enjoying the food and the thought of new gloves.
"Why's this pancake have red stuff in it?"
Tenko asked, hesitant to take a bite."It's jam, I made them for-"
"Hey! Who's this guy?!"
A girl with pale blonde hair in pigtails jumped up onto the table, her face leaning towards Tenko's to fully examine him. Before you could explain though, she made her judgement.
"You look sad. Is that why you're here?"
"Himiko!"
You scolded, making the girl aware of your presence.Toga moved away from Tenko, instead extending her hand,
"Himiko Toga! Are you gonna be a student here too?"Tenko looked up at you hesitantly, and after a few supportive nods from you, he introduced himself.
"Y-yeah. I'm Tenko,"
Toga looked back at you,
"Mr. (Y/n), he isn't shaking my hand!"Uh oh, did he mess up?
"Himiko, Tenko's got a special quirk that affects the things he touches with his hands. It should be fine with his gloves on, but he's still probably a little scared,"
You explained, knowing that the young boy wouldn't have come up with an explanation quick enough for the high energy girl.Toga thought for a moment before humming,
"That's alright! I can do this instead,"She gave his head a few solid pats before sitting down straight and grabbing a few jelly filled pancakes.
Toga seemed a little bit younger than Tenko, but was all the more viscous, a sinister grin on his face as she stabbed into her pancake, the red jam oozing out of it.
She ate her custom pancakes with glee, telling you about her weekend in between bites.
"And then they gave me these cute bracelets too! They have characters on them!"
She raised one arm high up in the air, displaying her new jewelry."That's nice, I'm glad your parents are getting along with you,"
Toga nodded,
"Mhm, I just wished they made pancakes like you do,"Toga looked at Tenko's gloves a while, making the little boy just a little bit nervous. At this point he realized the gloves were meant for her, and he just hoped that she wouldn't be mad at him for it.
"Your gloves are pink. I like that!"
She exclaimed. She reached towards her wrist and slipped off one of her previous bracelets,
"You should have this one! It matches with the gloves!"A gift! Tenko hesitantly accepted the bracelet, thanking the girl before putting it on. If he was being totally honest, the bracelet was a tad bit too girly for his tastes, but he didn't want to be rude.
Besides, it was pretty cute.
Toga smiled widely,
"We match now! We should be friends!"Tenko nodded with a soft smile, glad to make a new friend.
Meanwhile you were trying not to burst into tears at the whole interaction, oh the innocence of youth! You were very worried that Tenko might not have been able to handle all of Toga's energy, but it looked like he could adapt pretty well.
Hopefully the rest of the day would go just as smoothly.
