Soon, people from all around the area swarmed the sparring grounds to see what made such an inhuman noise, and an entire crowd gathered around the battered and bloodied body of Jericho, the boy who denounced the savior of Hesten Village.

The women gathered around the boy, confused and horrified by the cruelty of the men they looked up to as "defenders". One woman stood out among the rest of the crowd. She had hair white as paper, skin smoother than a fresh forged blade, and eyes that glowed with an amethystine light, sunken into her skull by years of magical abuse. This was Claudia, a soothsayer who had once served as High Mage Brea's right hand woman. And on this day, staring down at the detached hand of a snarky young man, she found her protégé.

"Leave the boy to me, Draconi. I will make sure he is punished to the fullest extent of the law", she uttered.

"But Sister Claudia, surely you can't save a boy whose heart has been cursed by magic!" Damien shouted.

"I can, I have and I will again! Speak out of turn again and you will lose your rank, Knight", Claudia retorted.

"Yes, M'lady Claudia", he responded quietly. This woman has seen horrors only gods could comprehend, and Damien knew this well.

"Good. Now hand the boy over to me. I will make sure he gets what's coming to him" she said coldly. Her sunken purple eyes were half open, as if she was jaded by life itself.
Holding out her hand, she cast a levitation spell that gently picked Jericho off of the ground so everyone could see what the knights had done to him.
Jericho was missing a total of nine teeth, had his nose detached internally from his skull, and his eyes bled when they were forced open.

"You men should be ashamed of yourselves! Even in such a rare instance, you should never torture a boy his age. Why, he looks like he's only about 14! What could have prompted you barbarians to pummel this boy into the ground?" Claudia questioned the group.

"M'lady, this boy was using magic in a sparring match. He injured us with his conjurations, searing our flesh and eyes through our armor. He's far too unstable to be kept alive", one knight from the crowd explained. The burns were shown to Sister Claudia, who healed the burns and repaired the damage to the grounds.

"This boy is far too badly beaten for my magic to have any effect. I shall bring this boy, and his severed hand, to High Mage Brea. Her Vitality magic is the only way he will survive to stand trial", she declared.

"Stand trial?", Damien questioned. "He demonstrated magical abilities right before our very eyes, and you expect us to not condemn that?", he went on. The crowd around the sparring ring shouted their agreement with Damien and the Knights, raising their voices to a deafening applause in mere seconds.

"SILENCE, orc, or stand in his place", Claudia threatened. The crowd fell silent almost as quickly as it had popped up. The once mighty knights now stood with their metaphorical tails between their legs, taken back by her demanding presence.

"As I was saying, before I was interrupted by this man, Jericho shall be treated back to health by the High Mage herself, at which point he will be locked away, isolated, awaiting his trial date. And as for you, orc", staring up at Damien with eyes filled with wrath, "On this day, you are no longer allowed among the ranks of the regiment until your actions are pardoned. Damien Draconi, Knight of Hesten Village and Captain of the Isdrial Defense Sector, you are suspended of your duties until you answer for your felonious conduct against this boy and the blatant disrespect you hold towards your elders until you can prove your actions were justified", Claudia finished out.

"You heard the soothsayer! Disperse! There is nothing for you here anymore", said a young woman's voice from within the audience. Within moments, the sparring ground were evacuated of all life, except for Sister Claudia and her new project; Jericho, the Chaos Magician of Hesten Village.
