The bike comes to a smooth halt as we arrive at the mansion.

I dismount from the bike, my legs a little shaky as I regain my balance. The journey had been exhilarating, and the adrenaline from the ride was still coursing through my veins.

He reaches out and unclasps the helmet from my head, his fingers gently brushing against my hair as he does so. He takes a moment to adjust the strands that have been flattened by the helmet.

He turns to me as he sets my helmet aside, his expression filled with a slight concern. "Are you comfortable?" he asks softly.

I nod silently, my eyes meeting him as I give a small nod. Despite the fatigue I was feeling earlier, experiencing the thrill of the ride had left me feeling more alive than tired.

He reaches out and takes my hand in his, his fingers interlacing with mine as he leads me toward the mansion. As I walk I feel a little discomfort in my lower abdomen but I don't voice it.

I don't want to ruin his birthday for him.

As we enter the mansion, I notice the darkness inside and instinctively grasp his hand tighter. He notices my discomfort and calls out into the dark, his voice echoing in the empty space. "Mom?"

He looks around, still holding my hand tightly as he tries to make sense of the darkened surroundings. "What happened to the lights?" he mutters.

Suddenly, the lights flicker on, the room bathing in brightness as a chorus of voices erupt from hidden corners, "Happy Birthday!" My grip is tightening as I hear the loud voices of everyone.

I turn my face to him and watch his expression shift from confusion to surprise, clearly not expecting this sudden outburst of celebration.

He shakes his head and chuckles "Really? You all scared her." He glances at me apologetically, amused by my reaction to the sudden birthday surprise.

I feel my cheeks heat up as all eyes turn to me, a flush of embarrassment spreading across my face. I avert my gaze, feeling self-conscious under the collective attention. I can hear a mix of chuckles and "awws" from the others, further fueling my bashfulness.
