"She freshened up and performed her Salah, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. As she finished, she heard her mother calling her downstairs. 'Ayliz, come help me set the table!' she said, her voice warm and inviting.
Ayliz smiled, feeling a sense of contentment. She loved spending time with her family, and dinner together was always a special occasion. She made her way downstairs, her heart feeling full of gratitude for this loving family of hers."
"As they sat around the dinner table, the aroma of delicious food filling the air, Ayliz's father posed the question that had been on his mind. 'Ayliz, what are your plans after you finish your exams?' he asked, his eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern.
Ayliz took a deep breath, her heart racing with excitement. 'Appa, I've been thinking a lot about it, and I've decided I want to pursue business studies at Seoul University,' she said, her voice firm and resolute.
Her mother's eyes widened in surprise, but her father's expression remained thoughtful. 'Seoul University, that's a great choice! But it's also a very competitive environment. Are you sure you're ready for it?' he asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
Ayliz nodded, her determination evident. 'Yes, Appa. I'm positive. I want to challenge myself and make the most of this opportunity. And I know that with your support, I can achieve anything I set my mind to.'she said in a low voice.
Her parents exchanged a glance, and Ayliz could sense their pride and trust in her. 'We'll support you every step of the way, Ayliz,' her mother said, her voice filled with warmth. 'We know you'll make us proud.'"
"As the night drew to a close, Ayliz's parents retired to their room, the dinner conversation still lingering in the air. But as soon as the door closed behind them, her father's expression turned from pride to worry.
"'How are we going to afford Seoul University, your mother?' he asked, his voice laced with concern. 'It's one of the most expensive universities in the country. We can't even begin to imagine the cost.'
Her mother placed a calming hand on his arm. 'We'll manage, jagiya. We'll cut back on unnecessary expenses, and I'll take on some extra work to supplement our income. We can't let financial worries hold Ayliz back from achieving her dreams.'
Her father sighed, his eyes clouded with doubt. 'But what about what the relatives are saying? They're all talking about how impractical it is for a girl to pursue higher education. They say it's a waste of resources.'
Her mother's expression turned firm. 'Don't listen to them, jagiya. They don't know Ayliz's potential. She's a bright and talented girl, and one day she'll make us proud. We can't let the opinions of others dictate our decisions. We have to believe in our daughter and support her dreams.'"
Her father didn't say anything and lay down on the bed
In the quiet of room, Ayliz's father remained silent, lost in his thoughts as he lay on the bed. His mind is consumed by concerns about her future studies. Sensing his unease, her mother gently inquired, "Jagiya, what's on your mind?" Her father, with a furrowed brow, expressed his worries, "I don't want to send her to Seoul for higher studies. I prefer that she studies in Daegu. I fear she may not be mature enough and could get involved in activities that are not right, or someone might try to harm her."
Her mother's reassuring words carried a sense of faith and understanding, "Trust her, she is our daughter. I have taught her the Islamic perspective, and she understands her boundaries. her father hummed in response.
Meanwhile
"As Ayliz sat on her bed, surrounded by the comforting silence of her room, her mind wandered back to the events of the day. She couldn't help but think of Arwan, the way he had saved her from those boys, his kind eyes and gentle smile. She felt a flutter in her chest as she remembered the way he had looked at her, the way he had made her feel.
She opened her novel, trying to distract herself from the thoughts that swirled in her mind. But the words blurred together on the page, her brain refusing to focus. All she could think about was Arwan, and the way he had made her feel.
'Is he really a good person?' she asked herself, her mind racing with questions. 'Or was it just a one-time thing? Does he really care about me, or was it just a heroic moment?'
Ayliz sighed, her thoughts a jumbled mess. She didn't know what to think, or how to feel. All she knew was that she couldn't stop thinking about Arwan, and the way he had made her feel, seen and heard."
