'Twins' I ask, in complete and utter shock.

I turn to look at Apollo who seems to be hiding a smirk. I'd only just got used to the idea of having one baby and now there's gunna be two?!

'Yeah, there's definitely two in there.' The Nurse tells me.

'Can we tell the sex yet?' Apollo asks.

'Not this early, sorry.' She tells him, while I sit in silence, still in disbelief. 'That'll be about at 20 weeks. As far as I can tell you're about 11 weeks.'

My stomach does a little flip at the new information.  That would have been when we first starting sleeping together. Before I went to see Petra about contraception. How could that be? Maybe its a wolf thing?... being super fertile or something.

If someone would of told me, when I first moved back to this town, that I would be pregnant in a matter of months, I would have laughed in their face. But here I am. Pregnant with twins to a man I hardly know.

But I do know him though? At least it feels like I do. If I'm being honest It feels like I always have. Apollo it like a piece of this puzzle, I never knew I was missing. And now that I've found him I feel complete. We just work together. Even though he drives me crazy I cant imagine being without him. When I left for the city he was constantly on my mind and now I know he'll never be off my mind. There's nothing that will ever be able to change that, whether I like it or not.

After we leave the doctors office and get home I haven't said much. My mind still on the baby... babies and how quickly I'd fallen pregnant.

'Twins are quite common in wolves, especially in my family.' Apollo tells me, breaking the silence as we pull up the drive to our home.

'Is there anything else about this pregnancy you want to tell me?' I ask annoyed.

'Not that I can think of...'

'Good, because if I find out you know anything else that I don't we are going to have some issues.' I warn, venting my feelings on him.

'I promise you Cassandra, there is nothing else.' He says as he places a hand on my knee and squeezes.

'Hhmm' I reply, feeling my annoyance lift as he looks into my eyes.

'Twins...' I say to him. 'What are we gunna do?'

'We'll be fine.' He smiles.

'Easy for you to say, you're not the one having a litter of pups!'

He chuckles as he pulls me over towards him, kissing my lips. Then there's a pause before he exhales.

'Let me tell Archer. The news might upset him.'

'Upset him?' I ask confused.

'Our sister Aurora, she was his twin. They were very close before she died. I don't know how he'll take the news.

'Ohh, I didn't know.' I replied, understanding a little more, why Archer is the way that he is.

Our conversation is interrupted when we hear the sound of a car pulling up the driveway behind us.
We both climb out of the car weary of whoever it might be, but then I spot a car I recognise. I take a step towards it, but Apollo quickly steps in front of me, using his body as a shield to protect me. The door of the car opens and out jumps a terrified looking blonde girl. I place a small hand on Apollos arm.

'Hayley?' I ask confused as her eyes dart from Apollos to mine.

I push past Apollo and rush to her, wrapping my arms around her as she starts to sob.

'I don't know what's happening to me Cas.' She cries against me.

'It's okay.' I tell her.

'How can it be ok? I attacked a nurse in the hospital.'

My eyes widen as I turn to Apollo and then back to Hayley.

'What happened?' I ask, trying to look in her eyes, but all she does is look at the floor and continues to sob.

'I don't know... she cut herself in my room. I don't even know why I did it. It was like I couldn't control myself as I leapt out of the bed and tackled her to the ground, licking the blood from her finger. She screamed and I just wanted her to be quiet...'

'Then what happened?'

'I put my hand over her mouth. She was moving and wriggling and then I heard a snap and she went limp. I think I killed her.'

'You think?' Apollo booms.

'I... I ran after that. I made it back to town and then I could smell something. Something that made me feel safe and calm. It wasn't until I saw you driving passed that I knew it was you. You probably think I'm nuts, but I found my car at the diner and followed you. Can you help me? Please.' She asks as she looks at me with pleading eyes.

I turn to Apollo and without having to ask he nods his head as I turn back to Hayley.

'You better come inside. There's something I need to tell you.' I say as I guide her by the arm, through the front door.
