Ashley's POV.
Although I wanted to ask millions of questions, I wanted to know where she was now, what happened to her, wanted to know about their love story, wanted to know everything, I couldn't find the guts to ask.
And as if he could read my mind, he answered all of my questions.
"She has been my girlfriend since freshmen year, we had the perfect life together, until she got sick, I was always there, but she kept pushing me away, she didn't want me to see her "ugly" as she used to say. I still visited her, for me she was as beautiful and young as ever, I fell in love with her all over again."
"And did she survive it?". I regretted my words as soon as I said them.
"No, she was hell of a strong girl, but cancer was stronger. I remember her last words to me, she made me promise her to find the perfect girl for myself, and to have the perfect life, but to never forget her. I promised her to love her forever, even if I ever move on, she will always be the angel I met on earth."
"You're a very sweet person Nash, she was lucky to have you there until her last breath."
I saw the pain in his eyes when he turned his face to smile at me.
We sat there silent for the next five minutes until,
"What happened to your mom?"
I wasn't ready to talk about her yet, she was the lone flower in the dead desert, I didn't want to remember her because I never tried to move on and have her only as a memory in my head. I denied the fact that she was actually gone.
"She was the perfect mother, but I never thanked her for being so, we had a good mother-daughter relationship but wasn't the best relationship any mother would wish to have with her daughter, now that she's gone, I regret every second I spent away from her" I don't know how or why, but I spoke my heart and mind out to Nash, I felt like he was the only person I can trust to never tell any of my secrets.
"I'm pretty sure she loved you very much Ashley, I don't believe she was ever upset with you, she must have known that all teenagers behaved in the same way. We're always so distant from our parents in such age"
"I wish I can see her one more time."
"I wish I can see Jane once more too."
"Jane is the girl you loved?"
"Yeah."
"You know what?"
"What?"
"I believe that people are like stars, when they no longer can maintain their balances, they die, but that doesn't make them disappear, they are still bright and special, sparkling in our memories, we know and believe they're still around, but we just can't reach nor see them anymore."
"No wonder the sky is full of stars." Nash said.
