NOVA GASPED, SITTING UP TO SEE THAT SHE WAS IN her room in her bed. Alec was asleep in the arm chair in the corner of her room, she smiled at the sight.

"Alec?" Nova said softly, staring at her older brother. Alec jumped awake and ran to his sister's side.

"Are you okay?" Alec asked, his eyes scanning her for any discomfort.

"I'm fine. What happened?" Nova asked, slipping out of bed and getting used to her feet again.

"Demon venom. You were just overworked." Alec sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as Nova put some new clothes on behind a divider type thing.

She put on a pair of black skinny jeans and a corset top, grabbing one of her not torn leather jackets that she loved, oh, so much.

"By the way, what were you dreaming about?" Alec asked as his little sister stepped out and looked at herself in the mirror.

"Nothing." Nova shrugged, pinching her wrist, she was a very bad liar when it came to family and friends.

"Liar." Alec said, standing beside her and taking her wrist to show the pinch mark. That's when her saw her charm bracelet that was supposed to be under the runes on the training floor, "Nov, that's supposed to be locked away."

"Why? I like it. It's stylish and-"

"It's dangerous. You know what happened last time. Take it off." Alec said, holding his hand out. Nova groaned before unclipping the charm bracelet and dropping it into her big brother's hands.

"I don't want to wear jeans anymore." Nova said, looking at herself in the mirror again.

"Too bad." Alex said, taking her arm and dragging her to the training area. Alec used his stele on the rune on the floor and put the charm bracelet in the box that sits there before using his stele to lock the rune again.

"Alec. Nova, you're awake." Jace said, his face lighting up at the sight of the brunette.

"Yeah, she is. What's up?" Alec stepped in. Nova looked at her brother confused before following them to where a certain ginger haired girl was sitting on the bed/couch thing while talking to Isabelle.

"Who is she? And what is she doing here?" Nova asked as Isabelle smiled at the sight of her sister, standing up and hugging her before they both moved to the seat in the corner, Nova's legs over Isabelle's.

"A mundane shouldn't even be here." Alec said, agreeing with his sister.

"Where is 'here's exactly?" The girl asked, how could she not know where they were.

"She's not a mundane, Alec." Jace said, standing up for the girl. Nova scowled at the ginger, not liking her already.

"How do you know that?" Alec asked.

"Because the seraph blade lit up when she touched it." Jace said, gesturing to the girl. He sat down on the side of the couch, "I'm Jace Wayland."

"I'm uh-"

"Clary Fray, we know who you are." Jace said.

"I didn't." Nova mumbled, earning a chuckle from her sister.

"Am I the only one who finds this unusual?" Alec asked, Nova put her hand up, agreeing with her brother, "Thank you, Nov!"

"You find everything unusual, Alec." Jace said, sighing slightly before turning to Nova, "And you, put your hand down."

"I have to repot this to the Clave." Alec said, Nova smiled to Isabelle before standing up, "I'll help you, Alec."

"You know what? Dial it down a notch. And you," Jave pointed to the brunette, "Sit back down."

Nova sighed with a roll of her eyes and sat back down, Isabelle pulled her sister's legs onto hers again.

"Our brother doesn't have a dial. Sometimes neither does Nova. You should know this Jace." Isabelle laughed, "I love you both, but you have a switch that's always on."

"We love you, too. But this-" Alec started.

"Hey, you know what? Give me a minute." Jace but in, there was a moment of silence before he sighed, "Here's a word you never hear me say. Please?"

"What is with you?" Alec asked.

"My brother has a point." Nova said, giving the girl a look to which she looked down.

"Really, no, what is with him?" Alec repeated, asking his siblings. Isabelle immediately grabbed Nova's hand and dragged her away with Alec, "Walk with me, you two."

Jace watched as Nova was dragged away, a little confusion as to why she didn't even ask to stay and confusion to why Alec didn't let her speak to him when she woke up.

"I'll explain it to you." Isabelle said, her arms linked with her siblings as they walked around the Institute.

"We don't know this girl." Nova said.

"There's no such thing as new Shadowhunters." Alec backed Nova up.

"There is now." Isabelle said, stopping them from walking.

"You don't find that strange?" Nova asked.

"What I find strange is that you're so upset." Isabelle said, looking at Alec, she then turned to Nova, "I think you're upset because of the way Jace is looking at her."

"You know, you should be happy Jace is interested in someone other than Nova or himself." Isabelle smiled to her big brother.

"Maybe I'm pissed that she's ruined the mission. We never found out who's buying the blood. That was our one job. I'm also pissed because he chose her over Nova." Alec said before walking away.

Nova turned to Isabelle, a hurt and shook look on her face, "What did he mean by that?"

"Walk with me again?" Isabelle asked, holding her hand out. Nova took her hand and they slowly walked around the institute while Isabelle explained what happened after Nova passed out. Let's just say, Nova does not like Clary.
