chapter 5: Battle of trost district (Part 2)

We have arrived at the second line of the Trost district, I saw that many titans have started to approach the second line of defense, it seems that what the garrison captain said is true, the front line has been wiped out.

"This is a good opportunity, isn't it? If we prove our abilities, we can speed up our promotion!"

 said Eren

"It's still too far for you Eren, we just graduated and you're already talking about rank," I said

"There's nothing wrong with me dreaming," Eren replied

"Sorry, but we also want to join the scout troop this year," said Mina

"Previously I was behind with you two, but this time I won't lose!" Thomas said

"Very good, Thomas," said Eren

It seemed like everyone was in high spirits, this was a good thing considering that combat morale was very influential in the progress of the battle.

"What if we compete who can kill the most titans?" said Thomas

"This will be easy" I said

"Heh, don't cheat okay!" Eren replied

"Squad 34, go and help the garrison troops," said one of the garrison soldiers

"Okay, come on!" Eren said

We went to help the midfield guards, from where we could see the titans starting to enter the midfield area

"The Titans are here?!" Mina said

"The front line troops have been defeated?! said Thomas surprised

"Tch, even though they are seniors, that's all they can do to guard walls?" I said annoyed

I had expected that things would end like this, but it was too bad. Is this the power of titans? I always have to be alert, especially if I have to protect this person from dying. I saw one titan acting suspiciously

"Be alert, this Titan is acting strangely!" I said

"WATCH OUT!" Eren shouted

A titan jumped from the top of the house and lunged at us, we managed to avoid the titan but not Thomas. Everyone looked at Thomas with disbelieving eyes, now he was in the Titan's mouth. The Titan finally swallowed Thomas whole.

"How dare you eat Thomas, you bastard!!" Eren said angrily

"Hey Eren! Don't go alone," I said as I followed Eren

I can't chase him, he's already consumed by his emotions and lost control, damn this guy is really troublesome. Suddenly the Titan's hand aimed at me, I realized this and immediately avoided the attack, but this prevented me from chasing Eren. Two titans are blocking my path

"Tch, these titans." I said

I took out my sword and maneuvered towards the titan, two titans are indeed troublesome if faced head-on without help. I flew towards one of the titans but the other titan blocked it with its arms so it gave me a little distance from the titans

"It turns out it's not as easy as I thought, but.... this is what makes this fight exciting!" I saidI shot the hook cable and hooked it on its leg, the target of my attack was the titan's severe leg. My plan worked, I managed to take down one of the titans.

"feel it!" I said

After that I knocked out the remaining Titan in the same way, after that I continued to catch up with my colleagues, but I only saw Armin who was sitting still and didn't move and I saw the Titan who was about to grab him.

"SHIT!" I said while speeding up my flight

I managed to withstand the grip of the titan's hand and cut his finger, but due to the titan's strength, it broke my left hand and ribs. I groaned in pain and carried Armin who was frozen still away from the titan, with my hands in a condition like this I couldn't hold my sword. There was no other choice but to look for a safe place until this dude regained consciousness.

I stopped at one of the roof tiles which I thought was safe enough to stop while waiting for help to arrive. I still felt pain all over my left hand and I threw myself down and leaned against the chimney of a house.

"What really happened? Where are the others?" 

"Are they dead? It could happen but, that old-fashioned dude couldn't possibly die that quickly, what should I say to that crazy woman"

"Damn, this time she's really going to kill me,"

It didn't take long, Conny, Ymir, Krista came with several other soldiers.

"Armin! (Y/n)! are you guys okay?" said Conny

"You better take care of that person," I said while pointing at Armin

"Hey! Hey, Armin! Hang in there hey!" Conny said

Armin finally came back to his senses

"What happened to you? Why are you frozen like that? where are the others," said Conny

"the others...?" Armin replied

"Armin? What actually happened" Conny said

"UAHHHH I'M USELESS, I JUST WANT TO DIE!" Armin shouted

"Oi Armin, calm down, what really happened to the others," said Conny

"Just finish it Conny, you can digest it yourself with your head... the others are dead," I said to Conny

"Impossible! they can't possibly die! Armin didn't say anything," said Conny

"I didn't see it directly, but if you look carefully you will understand," I said as I stood up

"oi... are you okay?" Conny said

"There's no need to worry about me, we'd better get out of here, we can't stay here forever," I replied

"...., i'm sorry....., I'll join the back row," said Armin and left

"We also have to go Conny, they told us to keep going," said Ymir

"I'll be there soon, (Y/N) you should also step back immediately. With your condition like that, you will only make your injury worse," Conny said to me

"..., okay" I replied

I retreated to the back row, I saw nothing but the corpses of the titans... and the corpses of the troops who died fighting the titans. I saw Armin and Hannah, I stopped for a moment. One by one my colleagues died, Franz. He is a good person, but it seems fate has picked him up first

"Armin, Hannah. Come on, we have to go back immediately," I said

"No! I won't go back without Franz!" said Hannah

I've had enough of all this, I slapped Hannah

"Wake up, that person is dead! Accept the truth, Hannah," I said

I have a little gas left to return to base. We won't be able to return without these gases, where are the garrison troops? Did they leave us? Fuck. Not long after, the bell for retreat rang, indicating the operation had ended. Having no other choice, I forced Hannah to go to the back row.
