Chapter 2: Unwelcome Reunion

Vivian's heels clicked against the polished marble floors as she followed Liam through the maze of the Blackwood Estate. The air was heavy with an unspoken tension, the kind that only two people with a tumultuous history could create.

"I must say, Vivian, I'm surprised you managed to tear yourself away from your precious design projects to grace us with your presence," Liam drawled, not bothering to look back at her.

Vivian gritted her teeth, resisting the urge to snap back. "Let's just get this over with, shall we? The sooner I can leave this place, the better."

Liam chuckled, the sound low and sardonic. "Oh, I don't think you'll be leaving anytime soon, my dear. Not if you want to claim your inheritance."

Vivian's steps faltered for a moment, her heart racing. "What are you talking about?"

Liam finally turned to face her, his piercing gaze boring into her. "Isn't it obvious? The only way you'll get what's rightfully yours is to stay and play by my rules."

Vivian's mind raced, trying to piece together the implications of his words. "What game are you playing, Liam?"

He flashed her a razor-sharp smile. "Why, the game of secrets, of course. And you, my dear Vivian, are the prize."

Vivian felt a chill run down her spine. Whatever was happening here, she knew it was far more than a simple inheritance dispute. Liam Blackwood was up to something, and she was caught right in the middle of it.

As they reached a set of ornate double doors, Liam paused, his hand resting on the handle. "Welcome to your new home, Vivian. I do hope you'll find it... comfortable."

With a dramatic flourish, he pushed open the doors, revealing a lavishly appointed bedroom suite. Vivian's heart sank as she realized there was no escaping this twisted game - at least, not yet.

Liam's eyes gleamed with a dangerous triumph. "Make yourself at home, darling. Because you and I, we're just getting started."

Vivian swallowed hard, bracing herself for the battle ahead. Whatever secrets lurked within these walls, she was determined to uncover them - and to outwit Liam Blackwood at his own game.
