Many moons passed after the incident of them being exposed to the dark side. They spent a lot of time scrubbing away the floors of the Archives, placing mismatched scrolls on the right shelf, and chasing out noisy Padawans who bothered the other knights.
"Why the hell did I let you talk me into this," Frostpaw muttered.
"I didn't." Seerpaw hissed at him. "You came of your own free will, and you threw me into a cabinet."
"How's your shoulder?" the white cat asked, flinching when the librarian gave them a stern look.
"Getting better." Seerpaw mewed. "Slowly."
"That's enough chatter." Sunpaw, a fellow librarian hissed at them.
"Sorrie."
"Moons of translating prey-hunting treaties," Frostpaw groaned. "No artifacts are worth this."
"I swear, if I ever meet Vinepaw-"
Seerpaw slammed his head on the mountain of scrolls.
"Who knew there would be so much to say about catching shrews..."
Time had really flown, with so many adventures, so many times they got into trouble...
It was their last few hours of being apprentices, and today, they would have to take the trials to become full knights.
Two Padawans would spar with each other, while their Masters decided if they were ready to become knights.
Frostpaw hoped he would match with Hawkpaw.
It was very tempting to rake his face to shreds.
Seerpaw, noticing, shot him a disapproving look.
The dark side had changed him a lot, for now, his visions became clearer and more vibrant, sometimes making him snap.
He considered himself lucky, having Frostpaw and Starrysky guiding him out of these mental breakdowns... but what would happen if he was a full knight when Starrysky would let him go?
'I'll be alone...'
Seerpaw didn't say anything, troubled by the avalanche of worries cascading down his mind.
"You okay?" Frostpaw asked.
"Huh?"
"Oh, nothing. Just nervous about the trials." Seerpaw forced a grin.
"You're not the only one who can look inside other cats' minds," Frostpaw sighed. "It's the visions again, isn't it?"
"I really gotta work on my mind-shielding skills." Seerpaw rested his head on his paws, staring wearily at the clouds moving lazily in the sky.
"Don't worry, I can't see every single thing," Frostpaw mewed hurriedly, pelt fluffing up the way he did whenever he got flustered. "I mean, well, sure, I can see you're very troubled right now... I-I can help you if you want..."
"Horizonstar and the others," Seerpaw stared at him with a hollow look in his eyes. "They think I'm dangerous."
"They think I'm going insane."
"It's bad enough Starrysky keeps studying prophecies about Darkhaven's return, and my visions of the future and past getting stronger really don't help at all."
He could have said a hundred more things, but the words got stuck like pebbles blocking a stream of water.
"I don't want to be alone," Seerpaw whispered, looking away.
