All it took was one call to change all my life.

" zzzz.....zzzzz "
The phone (mobile) vibrated multiple times indicating a call.

" Goshh...let me just rest for a few minutes " I groan in annoyance. I bring the phone close to my ears without even checking the name of the caller.
" Yess.... " Instead of a reply, I was met with complete silence.
" Hello ? ".... no reply.
" what the hell, speak something you..."
" Shhh... " a deep voice interrupted me. " Why are you so grumpy princess...did anything happen " he groaned sending chills down my spine.
" W-who are you ? " I mentally slammed myself for stuttering. He chuckled at my reply. His laugh was dangerous. His voice was toned down but was deep indeed. I abruptly cut the call. I sympathize myself claiming it to be a prank. I returned to sleep when my phone vibrated again. I ignore the call and proceed to take a nap.

The next three days were normal. I didn't hear anything from that unknown caller and things returned to their usual state.

Author POV
It was a silent evening, the city enveloped beneath ominous dark clouds. The atmosphere radiated an eerie darkness. Within the empty house, she sat alone, completely absorbed in her laptop, unaware of the upcoming storm.

" tring.... tring..... tring "
The sudden metallic clattering of the land line ringing in the desk made her jump. The old phone's rattling silenced the echoes of the wind passing through the subtle parting of windows in the empty house.

Y/N POV
I was working on a presentation which I needed to submit the next day when I heard the phone clattering and howling. I had long forgotten about the existence of that phone; I never shared its number with anyone, nor did I use it anywhere. Forget it-I couldn't even recall the telephone number, and for the first time in decades, I heard its bell ring. Confusion and terror seized me as I pondered who could be calling.

I remained silent and allowed the person on the other end of the line to initiate the conversation.
" Acting smart huh? " he chuckled. This deep voice....how can I forget, the unknown caller. A voice that seems to vibrate with depth and power, demanding authority. I thought it was a prank but I acted bold enough " How did you get my landline number ? " He groaned and replied " I possess knowledge of the secrets that even your deepest fears cannot uncover "
" Enough with twisting the words and just tell me who you really are " I sensed the magnitude of threat this man posed. I didn't want a stranger to dominate me and my feelings through a call.
" I see, bold enough to ask that. This is what draws me to you. You handle situations without letting emotions sway you..." he sighed and continued " For now, I shall introduce myself as your future husband. Stay away from all others and concentrate solely on me. Wait for the day when I consume every corner of your world "

I was fuming in anger and I replied " What do you think of yours..... " I halted when I heard a beep indicating the call being cut. Did he just hang up on me? I went back to my work ignoring his threats. I don't think I should mind someone who is warning me through the phone. But one thing troubled me — my landline number. How did this stranger come to know my telephone number? He could have obtained my mobile number from work, colleagues, friends, family — anyone. But my telephone number? That's unsettling.
