"No way, that's hilarious! I can't wait to meet your grandmother sometime," Mom exclaimed with excitement in her voice as I descended the stairs. But there's no chance I'd introduce her to Elijah's grandmother, especially since I've never even met her before. When I walked into the kitchen, all three individuals in the room turned to look at me.
I panted heavily, feeling as though I had just completed a marathon when in reality, I had only sprinted from my room downstairs. I glanced over to the kitchen Mom sitting across from Elijah, flashing me her signature hundred-watt smile.
Giving away the fact that she must have shared some embarrassing childhood tales about me to make him like me. Grace, sitting next to Mom, shot me a sly grin.
Then, my eyes met Elijah Wilder's. His golden blonde hair, usually unkempt, was now slicked back flawlessly. His face, unobscured, broke into a gentle smile, his light blue eyes gleaming as if I had just rescued him from falling into a ditch.
"Morning Addy," Grace and Elijah greeted in unison, "Good morning everyone," I muttered and eyed the empty seat purposefully left beside Elijah,
There is no way in hell I'd sit here and let Mom interrogate Elijah and ask him questions that she shouldn't. "Have a seat sweetie, have breakfast, Elijah was just telling us about his granny and sister." Mom grinned at him who returned her smile politely,
Mom's motherly tactics made me roll my eyes internally, "Mom, I'm really not hungry. Plus, we're running late, right Elijah?" I shot him a look, daring him to contradict me. At first, he seemed confused, but then he quickly caught on and nodded in agreement, knowing I wanted to leave.
"Yes, she is right, we should get going but before I go allow me to thank you Mrs. DeRose for the delicious pancakes trust me I haven't had these finger-licking pancakes in a while." Mom's cheeks flushed and I gave him a surprised look for I didn't know he could be this charming. "Oh, no need young man but I must say you're quite impressive." I granted him a tight lip smile while Grace scoffed until Mom shot her a glare.
"Okay, how about you wait in your car I grab my bag from my room?" Of course, I'll wait." He bid Mom farewell and headed out. Mom then turned to me, ready to praise his manners, "See you later, Mom." I quickly pecked her cheek, rushed upstairs, snatched my bag, and dashed out of the house walked out to where his car was parked on our lawn. I hopped in the car.
I was quietly enjoying the views passing by in comfortable silence. "Did I... Umm... Did I do something wrong?" an anxious voice grabbed my attention I glanced at Elijah who wasn't looking at me yet I could feel he was nervous though I gave him a confused look. "No, Elijah what made say that?" I inquired he gave me a side glance.
"I realized it wasn't a good move to come to your home unannounced." He chuckled sheepishly I sighed shaking my head I shouldn't blame him for that since I knew he had no bad intentions,
