"ASH. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THE BELL RANG 5 MINUTES AGO!" Mrs Hayley's voice rang across the classroom. Ash quickly gathered up her things and bolted out the door. Lucky, her first lesson was drama, and their teacher was always late.
"Ash, where on earth have you been?" Alicia asked when she got there.
"I fell asleep" Ash panted as she quickly changed into her leggings.
"Ash." Alicia sighed.
"Whatever".
When they got to the drama studio, everyone was already there and were practicing a play they were going to perform. Ash had been there when it had first been announced but she had no idea what to do because of her month long suspension.
"Alicia, what are we doing?" Ash whispered.
"Get into your space. We're practicing our lines." Alicia replied.
"But I don't know my lines!" Ash said, panicked.
"Just go!"
Ash shuffled to her spot and looked around her, clueless. Samantha spotted her and dragged her to a curtain. "You weren't here when we were handing out roles, so you'll probably be doing stage lighting". Ash groaned. That was probably the most boring part of a school play.
Just as Aiden had said, Ash was doing stage lighting. She stood miserably by the controls, silently cursing the science teacher everytime she had to adjust the spotlight. Well, at least she wasn't going to embarrass herself on stage now.
As Ash was experimenting with the controls (which the teacher did not notice as he was asleep), she noticed that one of the lights were more wobbly than the others. She pressed the button to turn it off and everyone went under the other light while shaking their heads as this was slowing down the practice. Just then, the light smashed to the ground, and shattered into a million pieces. Their drama teacher quickly ran over to see what had happened as all the girls shrieked, Ash included.
"How did it fall?" He asked.
"We don't know. It just randomly turned off and fell" Nikki replied.
"Are any of you hurt?" There was a tone of urgency in his voice.
"No, we went under the other light just before it fell"
The drama teacher nodded, relieved that everyone was ok. He then told everyone to go back and change as there was no point trying to proceed with a broken light. Ash smiled while putting her shoes on as she knew she had been the one to save all of them, even if they didn't know it.
