Fresh Start

The breakup between Hailey and Theo was rough, he had liked another girl. She had spent time on herself before exploring her options when she met Miguel. His humor is what caught her eye. They had been in geography class together and he was being a typical class clown which led to her talking to him, and even getting his number. Over the weeks they talk more and more, and even hangout. He asked her out one night and they have been the best since.

It's December 2023, a week before winter break. Hailey had explored a recent interest into band, marching band. Miguel and some of her other friends were apart of it and suggested her to join. Theo and Hailey stayed close, and even suggested for her to join drumline, with him. She had joined drumline, not to indulge Theo, but for the chance to be with her boyfriend. Joining was easy, but staying would be harder.

"So, do you wanna stay?" asked Trevor, her section leader for cymbals. "I mean if you would like to have me." Hailey replied not knowing the true answer. "We'll see you Thursday then, Hailey." said Trent, Trevor's older brother and snare section leader. As she was loading onto the bus to head home, Theo sat besides her. "How was today? You gonna stay, Hales?" "I'm not quite sure, I don't see why not." Hailey said while yawning. She received a message from Miguel asking about how the first day went. As time went on, their relationship has gotten less interesting. They acted more like friends then a couple. That issue caught Hailey's eye and she continued to think about it as the days went on. Though her and Miguel seemed to lose their spark, Theo and Hailey seemed to regain it. But what'll happen next with them? No one knows for sure.

Practice after that got increasingly harder, yet more fun, as they progressed. Hailey was relieved to know there was no practice during break, and she could just go home and rest. "Hailey! Eliza's here!" Hailey came running downstairs from her room like an animal. "I got so much to tell you girl." "Uhoh." said Eliza knowing Hailey was up to no good. Hailey dragged her upstairs with excitement ready to burst at the seems. "HE LIKES ME!" shouted Hailey. "Who? Your boyfriend?" "Nooo, Theo." Hailey replied with a slight grin, slowly fading as she thought of Miguel. "No no no, not after last time. No, Hailey." Eliza recalled how hurt Hailey was after the breakup and she knew it was just bound to happen again if they were to rekindle. "I'm not for certainnn. I just don't really know." "Well, let's stop talking about that..person. Did you do the math project?" The day went on about Miguel and Eliza's boy issues, but Theo stayed on Hailey's mind all night.

What'll she do to solve everything? All will occur on New Years Eve.
