Tara waited and waited for days but Luke Thames wasn't around. She sat down and wondered what happened. He's not answering telepathy or the communication devices he had.
Ah.
She looked around and noticed how empty her world had become right now.
Where is it?
She wondered.
"What am I looking forward to?" She mumbled, and unknowingly, a tear escaped from her eyes. She realized she's not used to being alone now.
"This is... loneliness?"
Tara who used to be indifferent with her own feelings realized that one sad feeling that her father felt throughout his life. Dragons live a solitary life. The reason why they brainwashed themselves that they were a great and mighty beings was because of the brittleness of their hearts.
No matter how strong a creature is—it's bound to succumb to one thing that could spell its doom.
"That bastard," she mumbles and flies back to the lair.
.
.
"Baby? What's wrong?" Radish asked Tara. Their daughter is sick, which has never happened in her whole life. She was weak and had been lying on the bed for a while now. She didn't have any life at all, she just sleep and stare at a distance while awake.
Rhae didn't know what to do as well. The bastard Radish couldn't help but wonder when will Eruhaben wake up and impart his awesome wisdom to their childs.
Both of them lay by Tara's side and cocooned her in a warm and tight embrace.
"What's wrong, Baby?"
Tara did not respond. She just scooted closer to Rhae and hugged her father rightly.
"Dad..."
"Hm?"
"Was it hard?"
"What is?"
"Waiting that is."
Rhae and Radish finally understand what their daughter is saying.
"Did that human..."
"I miss him," she whispered solemnly. Her voice was coarse and her lips were trembling. I miss him so much."
Rhae understood the feeling his daughter felt. The times she spent with that human-made her heart find solace, that feeling that he and Radish tried to stop from losing control. That human softened Tara's heart, so soft that all her inhibitions vanished with the loss of his presence.
Radish kissed the back of her head and said, "Are you simply going to give up?"
Rhae looked at him.
"Your dad waited for centuries, you know."
Tara turned towards Radish.
"Waiting makes another meeting worthwhile."
Radish seldom says such good words of wisdom.
"Right," Rhae agreed. "The excitement of looking forward to meeting someone is one of the joys of life. I am sure that human has some reasons why he has not met you yet. Human lives are short and busy, unlike ours. He must have a reason."
Tara regained her strength and returned to her and Luke's usual meeting spot after hearing this.
She waited for a day and will return tomorrow. Until the day becomes a week, and then a month.
