"That hurts," Lili grunted. Suo loosened his grip immediately. "I'm sorry," he said in a small voice, placing her on the floor.

"You didn't hurt me," Lili said when he looked at her hand, which he had grabbed earlier.

He noticed a few things, including the small mole on her right pinky finger and a scar on her palm.

"When did this happen?"

It probably happened in the summer, when they were ten. He remembered her pointing her hand at the bustling fire, eager to burn marshmallows. He remembered how they used to run around the fire playing tag.

She is the clumsiest person he has ever known, and he could tell she had trouble cooking, from random bruises to cuts on her fingers.

"Should I help you with cooking?"

"There's no need," she said grumpily, looking at the ring finger he treated. Strangely, it looked as if he didn't want to let go of her finger.

"You're underestimating me," she huffed. "I'm an excellent cook."

That was a blatant lie. Lili was a terrible cook, and there wasn't a single day she wouldn't find her nosy landowner knocking on her door, afraid she would burn the kitchen again.

"You are?" Suo beamed at her.

Lili gritted her teeth. It was an obvious lie. She told the curious Suo that the landowner and she went karaoke every day as the first excuse for his suspicion.

"Did you miss school today?" He questioned. Lili knew the lies he spewed were a lot more believable than hers.

"Jeez, so what if I did?" She sighed, looking away from him, and there was a moment of dangerous silence.

"What are you doing?" She asked, noticing his tensed face.

"Ouch!" She mumbled, covering her forehead.

He flicked her.

"How can you rest when you're all bruised?" He said it, anger evident in his voice.

"If you want to yell, go out and yell," Lili said, rubbing her forehead with her palm. His flicks were strong; how could she forget that?

"Any other bruises?" He questioned her, ignoring her statement.

"Yeah."

Suo gazed into her eyes, and he saw his face reflected.

This was the first time she had said yes.

His orbs widened when Lili grabbed him by his collar, holding him close to her.

"My forehead hurts!" She snapped. "Stop flicking me like that." Lili could see his cheeks were flushed. Maybe he wasn't feeling well, she assumed.

"If you promise not to get into unwanted fights."

"You sadistic ass," she muttered under her breath.

"I want to treat you to dinner."

Suo looked back when he didn't hear any response and saw Lili dozing off on the couch. He could feel a weight lifting from his shoulders. He took a blanket and tucked her in.

"Dinner," he thought as he stood up and walked to the small kitchen attached to the room.

There were many old and unused utensils locked up in cupboards. He took one of them out and cleansed it. He checked the fridge, which looked rather old.

"I have to get something," he thought as he closed it.

He walked past the couch, where Lili was dozing, and put on his shoes.

His yellow tassel earrings swished under the breeze when he opened the door.

A few years ago, Suo remembered how he claimed he'd stick annoyingly close to Lili no matter what. Lili was his only treasure, the reason he eagerly awaited his day.

He was sure that she was all he needed.
