Another Chance

Chapter 5

I sulked in my room all day. Tayla, when she found out my reason for sulking, she totally ignored me. Yes, it was clear that something was fishy between both my best friend and boyfriend, but I didn't know what.
I prayed it wasn't what I thought, and it wasn't what Tayla insisted on. David travelled for a vacation and after he had arrived, he called to say so and that was it. No calls, no texts, nothing. If I called, he didn't answer.
Soon, Madison went missing. No calls, no texts, nothing. Her parents said she went to stay with a friend for the weekend and that was it. They didn't even know who the friend was.
   One evening, I decided to go for a walk. So lost in thought, I didn't know I had gotten to the park, which was quite a distance from my home. 
I stayed awhile and headed to a local restaurant to eat.
After my food came, I started eating when a text came in.
 
Dave: I can't wait to see you my sugarplum. I sent you a thousand for shopping like I promised. Get yourself something nice. I love you.

Excuse me?!
That text was obviously not for me. I never liked the idea of having "sugarplum" as a nickname, so who the hell was this!
Quickly, I phoned him but he didn't respond. I checked all his social medias, but he wasn't on any. Strange because I saw him on it once.
I created another account and searched for him. Miraculously, he was on them, he blocked me. Why?
Scrolling through his posts, I saw, they all had Maddie in it. They were holding hands, cuddling, movie night...
What. The. Hell?
Tayla was right all along.
   
        Weeks Later:
As I sat in class, the both of them walked in. Maddie say by my left, while David sat by my right. They looked so happy and Maddie was even glowing, while I had huge eyebags and crazy dark eye circles. In short, I looked terrible.
"Babe?" They whispered. Great, now they're syncing words. I felt a lone tear fall and I quickly wiped it away, though they saw it. Because of the teacher, they reluctantly backed off.
  Immediately after class, I zoomed off, but sadly they still caught up with me.
  "Babe, I called you but you... You blocked me, and Maddie."
" So she's now 'Maddie' not 'Madison', tell me David," I said in tears.
" It's just a name," Madison said and I turned to her.
"You two think I don't know?! You betraying backstabbing fools!"
By now, everyone in the cafeteria had their eyes on us.
"What are you saying?" David replied quietly.
"An anonymous person sent me a video of you two having sex! I found out you blocked me before then. Why?!"

SILENCE

" It's not like that," Madison said.
" Really? Is that why you quickly found out Zach was cheating? Because you had your eyes on my boyfriend?"
        " Hollup,  I was never cheating. The girl y'all saw me with was my cousin. And I told her, but she insisted she loved someone else," Zach quickly said and I turned to her. 
" Was this someone else David?" I asked and she lowered her head.
" How could you?" I asked crying.
"I gave him what you couldn't!" She screeched and I was beyond surprised. " Okay? I am sorry I fell in love with your boyfriend! But I don't regret it!" She yelled and everyone murmured. Wow.
" Good luck on raising your little family," I said and was about to leave when David spoke up in confusion.
" What family?"
"You're gonna act like you don't know you're going to be a father. Great job David."
" He doesn't know, does he?" Tayla said with a smirk. By now, Madison was shaking and trying to sign her to shut up.
"I won't close my mouth, not after you stabbed her in her back. Tell him who is responsible for your baby," said Tayla with a huge smile. At this point, she looked so evil.
"What baby is talking about?" David asked.
"I-I was... It's nothing. Let's go now," she said nervously tugging on his hand.
" Oh. Okay," Tayla said.
"What are you talking about?" David asked Tayla.
"Oh. She's carrying Shawn's baby," Tayla said airily and David's colour drained. Shawn was David's brother. And then it clicked.
"That's why you didn't want me to tell David. Because you two were dating," I whispered in another level of shock.
" How could you!?" David yelled.
"How could she? How. Could. You David!? She was your girlfriend's bestfriend!" Tayla yelled.
   Barely able to hold myself up, I walked out of school.
" Get in," a voice said and a car stopped beside me. Nicholas.
Getting in, he drew me to himself and I bawled my eyes out.  Everything seemed to make so much sense now.
The 'my date stood me up' night, everything just seemed to make sense. 
He dropped me off and I didn't feel like letting him go. It felt so nice holding him, it felt like he understood me and knew how to comfort me. I think he understood and carried me up my room.
"Is she okay? What happened to her?" My mom came out from her room. My mom had tears in her eyes.
"She's fine. She found out David cheated with Madison,"
" Oh my baby, I'm so sorry," she whispered, kissing my head. He took me into my room and what happened was something out of the blue.

When Tayla came home, Nicholas had already left.
"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
"Something happened," I said and she stared at me with suspicion.
"What happened?"
"I lost my virginity,"
"Oh my gawd. To who? And just when you broke up with that loser.....I'm so happy for you. So who?"
" Nicholas."
She froze few seconds before squealing like a rat. I rolled my eyes. Typical Tayla.
"Buh it's nothing. I made him understand that,"
"So you used him?"
"No. But..."
" It's fine love."
That night, as I cuddled Tayla, what was on my mind wasn't my breakup with David, but Nicholas.

So, honestly, I never planned for the baby's father to be David's brother, it sorta came...buh, oh well😌.
