Heavy rain poured down the windows, lightning striking and thunder rumbling loudly overhead.

"What are you thinking about, Syd?" Bucky asked in a quiet hum, his arms wrapped around my middle as we sat back on the couch, a small fire cracking in the fireplace.

"How we met." I answered with a faint smile, my hand rubbing over his metal arm.

He loved it whenever I did that. The first few weeks, he was terrified of showing me his metal arm, thinking I'd get scared and run away.

"Hm," Bucky settled his lips in my hair, kissing the top of my head. "Deciding to pull over to help you was the best decision I've ever made." He planted a kiss on my cheek. "And I've made some pretty amazing choices in my time."

I light laugh escaped me. "I can't believe I'm married to such an old man. I should file for divorce."

"Oh, we're going there now, huh?" His arms tightened a little. "Well then, I'm keeping you here as my hostage. You'll never escape."

"Oh no!" I leaned my head back on his chest with a smile, a hand brushing over the short beard that grew. "Who ever will save me?"

Bucky smiled and dipped his head, kissing my lips gently. "You're adorable. I love you so much."

A stabbing pain made my bolt upright, rubbing my eyes and switching on my bedside lamp light; looking at the clock hanging on the wall across from my bed: 1:30AM.

"Hey,"

My head snapped to the doorway to see Clint standing there.

"Can't sleep?" he guessed as he stood in the doorway.

I pushed my tangled hair from my face. "You guessed it. Same for you?"

"Yeah." He looked to the dark corner of the room, to where Rebecca was sleeping in her small bed. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah, sure." I scoot over as he walks in and takes a seat beside me. "Busy mind?" I guessed.

Clint nodded. "My family," he looked at me. "Bucky?"

"Yeah." I nod, sighing softly. "But for me, it's worse. Ever since I ripped that stupid reality stone from Thanos's gauntlet five years ago, I've been seeing him everywhere. You can only see your loved ones for so long in a fake reality before it starts messing with your mind. Driving you crazy and making you spiral."

"I can imagine," he sucks in a breath, then releases it. "We'll get him back, Sydney. We'll do everything we can. Okay?"

I looked at him with a small smile. "Okay. Thanks, Clint."

He looks at me oddly. "For?"

"Just talking with me." I answer. "Everyone always just looks and talks to me like I'm going to break at some point. You treat me like a normal person. Thanks."

He nodded and placed a hand on my back before hugging me. "Anytime. You feeling better now?"

"Yeah. A lot."

"Good," he got up and turned to me. "Come with me,"

"Clint, I can't just leave my kid."

"She's sleeping in the safest place right now." he said simply. "Do you honestly think I wouldn't kill anyone who hurt my goddaughter?"

"I suppose not." I answered as I glanced over at Rebecca, then looked at Clint as I stood up. "But no more than five minutes."

"Whatever you want, mama." He chuckled, "I smuggled a pint of your favorite ice cream into the freezer. Let's eat it before Steve gets to it."
