Chapter 15: drunk text me

5 days later ~ Early May ~ JJ's pov:

Kie had decided to move out of our house, after we broke up. According to John b and Sarah she had found this 2 bedroom apartment right on the water, and she was able to move in on the same day. I'm not going to lie it hurt seeing her go, and leaving me. I've haven't spent this much time away from her, since her kook year almost two years ago. On the other hand, I'm glad she moved out. I couldn't image having to see her face every single day. I really do hate her for what she did. And I mean she kept it a secret from me for months! I probably would have been less mad if she told me what happened sooner. I mean sure I would have been mad at her still, but at least I would know she knew she made a mistake and she felt guilty about it. With the way she was hiding her whole relationship with Rafe from me, it almost makes me think they had a friends with benefits type of situation since we had came back from Charleston in December.

Anyways today is mine and Sarah's birthday. We wanted to keep the party small this year, nothing big, no ragers or anything like that. We decided to just throw a small party at our house with the rest of the pouges. I really didn't want to invite Kie, and if I had it my way I wouldn't have. But I understand that it's Sarah's birthday too and I wanted her best friend to be there with her to celebrate. I just plan on avoiding Kie as much as possible. I don't really know how possible that's going to be though. I just dont feel like getting in an argument with Kie today, and I know if we start a conversation with each other then that's going to happen.

A few hours later

Me, Sarah, and John b were adding the finishing touches to the decorations when we heard a knock on the door. " I'll go get it!" Sarah squealed, as she ran to the door to see who it was. I peeked my head around the corner trying to figure out who got here first. The second I saw her brown curly hair I knew it was Kie. She had a pink small bag in her hand, and she was wearing jean shorts and an orange halter top. My heart dropped the moment I saw her. I could feel the anger, the betrayal, the sadness, and all other sorts of emotions that she has caused me, to flow through my body. But I tried to brush off all of those feelings. I thought if I could just try my best to act happy, then I will be happy, and today will be a good day.

I could see Sarah and Kie talking about something in the entryway as Kie was slipping off her orange converse. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Kie looking over at me, with her eyes slightly watery. I looked over towards her to see if I was making that all up in my mind. The second we made eye contact with each other, she quickly looked away from me and focused on Sarah and what she was saying. I let out a loud breath and made my way over to John b.

John b patted me on the back, " Happy birthday dude! I hope 17 treats you better than 16."

I laughed a little bit, " Yeah me too." I stopped laughing and started to look down at the ground. My thought immediately went to Kie. It was like she was taking over all my thoughts. Everything, every word, every song, seemed to remind me of her.

John b noticed something was up, " Hey I know how it feels to be cheated on." John b took a deep breath, " I know you probably feel super mad at Kie right now. You probably lost all the trust you had in her. And you know, I did a little bit too. Don't tell her I said that though." We both sort of laughed, " Just try not to let it ruin your birthday okay. Today is about you not Kie. Don't let your thoughts or her get to you okay. Just try to have a good time hanging out with your friends."

I gave John b a small smile, " Thanks." I then took a deep breath trying to let all my feelings and thought about Kie go away, just for the day at least. Today was going to be about having fun with my friends and celebrating mine and Sarah's birthday.

As I was walking out of the kitchen Sarah came running towards me and John b, " Oh my god there you guys are. Come on everyone is here!" Sarah said full of excitement and energy. We both followed her to the living room where Kie, Pope, and Cleo were all sitting on the couch talking.
