Chapter 7

Throughout her life, she wanted to be a Knight. Her vision is not a blessing from the god. To receive a vision, you must first enter into a contract with the God. A contract includes rules, and breaking those rules will end in your death; A vision grants you the ability to use the element of the god you agreed to a contract with. She believed that having a vision could help save more lives and perhaps catch criminals, but she is now feeling weak. She cannot even save herself. Years of training go to waste.

          "You're awake." Aella heard Kai.

          She saw the dark sky and big trees. She still in the forest. A warm light is coming the bonfire made by Kai. The sounds of the crickets and birds. The silence of the night doesn't help her condition. Memories rushed on her head, her breath and heartbeat become faster. Her wounds are painful. Her vision is not with her.

          "Can you heal yourself?" He asked her. She tried to speak. "I don't have my vision." He reminded her. Kai removed her vision on her. It is a little thing, like an amulet that is given by the God.

          "So, we will rely first on the herbs that I gathered. These will help your wounds." He said and showed her the leaves. He plastered it to her wounds.

          Aella can't help but to cry on her situation. "This is all your fault." She blamed him. Her mother and sister must be so worried of her now. Also, her colleagues and her friends. Her mother will cry of pain. Her mother didn't want her to enter the knights because of how dangerous it is. She remembered the face of her mother when she woke up in the infirmary because they were attacked by the glargoths, her mother is crying because she is so worried of her. Humans believed that Glargoths are former humans who were curse by Gods during the Great battle of serenity and those humans who betray the gods.

          Aella can't help but to think a lot of things. Her mind and body are so weak and tired to function.

          "Can you sit?" Kai asked her. She nodded. "A help is appreciated." She answered. Her legs are aching due to his father hitting her.

          Kai moved to help her sit. He let her lean to a big log. She saw him grilling a meat.

          "I saw a group of boars and I manage to catch one. You should eat to replenish your energy." He informed her. Tears are still flowing on her cheeks and he saw it.

          Kai gave her a meat on a stick and used his hands to wipe her tears. "Stop crying. I know it's my fault."

          "You shouldn't kidnap me." She said to him.

          He looked at her after biting the meat. "I have my reasons and you're not ready to hear them." That made her forehead creased and brows furrowed.

          "You're such a jerk."

          They weren't be able to finish their food when a group of Glargoths appeared. Kai immediately stood up and grabbed his sword. Not just small glargoths, a big one also appeared.

          "What I'm supposed to do? I can't move my whole body." She informed her.

          "Don't move. Let me handle them." He said to her.

          Kai's sword flamed. He attacks the glorgoths while protecting her. His sword releases fire on every swing. She watches him fight the monsters.

          Aella gritted her teeth when she was grabbed by a glorgoths and she is fast enough to kick the monster. Many glorgoths have been defeated but it seems that the number is not lessening. Kai is exhausted and there is still a lot of glorgoths. She felt useless. A lot of slashing happened and Kai is wounded. One big glorgoth is left. The glorgoths is taller and bigger than human; a dirty saliva is running from their mouth and have a huge strength.

          "Finish him, Kai or we're dead." She shouted at him. If she does have her vision, she can heal him while fighting the monsters.

          "Yeah, that's my plan, sexy." Her eyes rolled in his answer. She hates the words sexy now.

          Kai finished the monster and he immediately helped her stand. He's wounded and, in his condition, he can't carry her. They need to get out of that place. The fire attracted the glorgoths. Her left arm is clinging on his neck to get support and help her body. She used her strength to walk.

          Aella gasped when they stumble on a group of slimes. Poison ivy slimes and fire slimes. Poisonous and the other one will burn you alive. His vision can't counter the fire slimes.

          Their chances to survive this night is zero. How will they defeat these creatures. They were called slimes due to their ability to change their form into different shapes. They do not have bones and they're squishy. Plus, it's hard to survive the poison of the slime. Antidote for the poison is expensive and in demands. Stocks of it is rare.

          "We will die." She uttered. If she can only rewind everything, they shouldn't leave the house and let their emotion decide. Kai put her on the side, slightly away from the slimes. He took out something from his bag.

          A dagger. "Use this to protect yourself. Shout if you need help. I'll handle them. We're going to leave. I still need to seduce you." Then he left her to face the slimes. She was left speechless with his last words.

          "Stay alive. I should be the one who will kill you!" She shouted and Kai just laughed loudly.

          She's silently praying. She still wants to see her family. Even she can't stand properly, she slashed the vines to lessen them and help Kai. She fights those vines for minutes and he noticed her.

          "Aella, what are you doing?" He shouted at her.

          "Don't mind me. My legs are painful but I want to help." She's a hardheaded woman, and that's what she like about herself. No one could dictate her what she wants to do.

          "At your back!" She shouted when she saw one fire slime thrown fireball at him. He dodges them but one poison ivy slime wrapped his vines on Kai's right leg. Adrenaline rushed through her and she ran towards him to slice the vines.

          Kai groaned when he was freed from the vines but the thorn is still on his skin. Those thorns are like the needles of slimes to inject the poison.

           "Can you stand?" She asked him. He nodded.

          "My legs are shaking, but I can help." She informed him. 

          A teasing smile formed his lips. "Your shaking legs is what I want to see in my bed."

          "We're in the middle of life and death situation!"

          "I know, I know." He makes fun of her.

          After minutes of fighting the slimes, her legs are in terrible condition. It feels numb. They only reduced the poison ivy slimes, but not the fire slimes. His vision can counter them. Kai is not just exhausted but also the effect of the poison is showing. In addition, the edges of her thin dress with a blood are burned.

          He moves slowly now and it looks like he's trying not to lose his consciousness. She wants to asked him is he's okay but she know he did not.

          "Want our help?" A voice from their back. Kai's father. How did he find them?
