(A/N: I might do a part two for this. Don't ask me why a picture of a guitar led to this by the way. I don't know myself :/)

"I'm so bored." Callum groaned, repeatedly bashing his head into the brick wall behind him.

Lucy grabbed the back of his head and pushed it forwards, saying in her thick Portuguese accent, "Thank you for stating the obvious."

Aiden sniggered and Rey silently gave Lucy a high-five.

The four of them were sitting on a bench in a town centre, and had been there for the past half an hour. To the average by-passer, they would have looked like a bunch if normal kid, but anyone who had met them knew otherwise.

Their appearances didn't say much about them: Callum, with his brown hair and eyes; Rey, with her brown hair and green eyes; Aiden, with his blonde hair and blue eyes and Lucy, with her black hair and grey eyes. But it was their abilities that made them stand out.

For a year, they had been playing together in a band in the town centre: Callum as the vocalist and guitarist, Rey as the backup singer and the bass guitarist, Aiden as the pianist and Lucy as the floutist. Anyone who had heard them play, would be guaranteed to come back the next day to hear them again. It was just their talent.

But they weren't all happy-and-jolly-music. The reason they had become a band was because there was no one else in the world to support them and nothing else in the world for them to do. Callum and Rey (who were twins), lived with an abusive step-mom and an absent dad; Lucy was an orphan who lived on the streets and Callum lived with a dad who was a drug-addict and a mom who was too busy cheating on him to care about anyone else.

Happy, right?

Callum slapped Lucy's arm (or tried to). "Hey! Leave me alone!"

She laughed in reply. "You're turning red!"

Callum finally got his head back up and scowled at her. "Meanie."

Lucy stuck her tongue out at him and Aiden looked at the two of them, then whispered something to Rey, who squealed and looked at them too.

"Oh my god, Aiden! That's so true!"

Aiden smirked and Callum and Lucy looked him in confusion. After a few moments, realisation dawned on Lucy and she pulled a face at Aiden. "What the hell is wrong with you? That's DISGUSTING!!!"

Aiden and Rey cracked up while Lucy tried to hit both of them. All the while, Callum stared at them in an innocent puzzlement. "Wait.....what?" he shrugged to himself. "Oh well."

Lucy stopped trying to murder them to roll her eyes. "He's so dumb, isn't he?" she said to the to the others.

Rey nodded and smiled grimly. "So true. I have to live with the idiot though."

Aiden patted her on the arm. "Man, I feel bad for you. Must be like seven years an hour with him around."

Rey nodded. "Yuh-huh. It sucks."

Callum frowned. "Meanies." he repeated.

Suddenly, they heard a voice behind them. "Oohh, look, it's the weirdos!"

Callum gave a loud groan and they all turned around. In front of them were two (infamous) girls, Maisie and Rebekka. Maisie had long blonde hair and was wearing a short skirt and t-shirt and Rebekka had short brown hair and the same clothes as Maisie. They both held shoopping bags and were both smiling smugly.

Rey scowled and stood up. "What to you want now?"

Maisie grinned. "Oh, just a little payback!"

Suddenly, she pushed Callum with enough force to push him off the bench, and he landed on the pavement with a loud thud. He gave a short gasp of pain- he had landed on the leg that his step-mom had hurt earlier, and there was already a huge bruise. He grimaced and pushed himself up, smiling.

"What, are you sad I threw your hairclip out the window at school?" he said mockingly.

They ignored him and Rebekka kicked his guitar. "What's this? You play? I bet you sound like crap. Just like your mom did."

Callum's eyes narrowed and Maisie smirked. "Yeah, why don't you play for us then?"

Lucy stood up. "Well, he's a million times better than you'll ever be, you fat-faced swine!"

Aiden smiled and Rey and Callum gave a triumphant grin at their looks of indignation.

Nonetheless, Rebekka picked up his guitar. "I bet this cost more than your dad will ever earn."

Callum jumped up and tried to snatch it away. "Shut up about my dad!" He finally yanked it back and sat down, clutching it like his life depended on it.

Out of nowhere, they all heard someone clearing their throat. They turned around, and saw an old man in a suit walking towards them.

Rey and Callum shared a look- that was Charlie, their real mom's best friend. They hadn't seen him in years; what was he doing here.

He gave them a grim look. "Callum and Reyna, I take it?"

The two of them nodded.

He gave them a sad look and said, "Come with me. There is something I must tell you."

Callum and Reyna quickly waved goodbye to Aiden and Lucy and stood up to follow Charlie. When they had gotten to a quiet place, he out a hand on their shoulders and gave a small sigh.

"I- I hate to say it to you two, but.... your mother died this morning."
