I woke up and Carl wasn't beside me. I looked around and finally found what I was looking for, a clock. It was 7:30 a.m. I pulled the blankets off of me and stood up. I looked in the mirror of the vanity.

My hair looked like I had just been through a tornado. I stared at my clothes in shock. They had blood and rips all over them. I sighed and walked to the closet. None of the clothes in there were my size.

I walked out of the room and went to another one. It looked like a girl's room... that could have been my age. I smiled and went over to the closet. Yes! I yelled mentally. There were clothes in there that were my size.

I pulled out a gray hoodie and then I pulled out some light blue skinny jeans. I quickly changed and then started looking for a brush, not caring if anyone had used it, luckily I found one in the nearest drawer and started brushing the dry blood and tangles out of my silky brown hair.

I smiled at myself in satisfaction. I walked out of the room. The sound of a sizzling stove filled my ears. I walked into the kitchen. Carl was standing at the stove cooking something. "What are you doing?" I asked.

He turned toward me, "Making breakfast." Carl stared at me and then smiled. "Wow! You look great!"

"Thanks." I peered over his shoulder. He was cooking...was it eggs? "How did you get the oven to work?" I wondered in excitement. "I don't know. I just tried to see if it worked and I guess I just got lucky." He smiled.

I patted over beside him and leaned up against the counter. "Can I help you with anything?" Carl shook his head.

"I don't want you to do all the work," I responded, playfully nudging his shoulder. "I got it."

"Fine." I watched him cook the food. He was really doing a good job. The food looked great. He walked over to the cabinet and pulled out two plates and then flipped the over eggs onto them.

I followed him into the dining room. He stayed quiet as he focused on what he was working on. "Okay breakfast is served." Carl spoke up waving his hand over the food. I laughed and sat down in a chair in front of Carl.

I immediately forgot about everything as I stared down at the food in front of me. I couldn't even remember the last time that I ever had food like this. Carl stared at me as I quickly stuffed down the food. "Wow," He chuckled. ",I can't say that I have ever seen a girl eat like that before."

      I laughed, "Now you can."

"What do you want to do today?" He asked chewing on his food. I shrugged, "I don't know. Whatever you want."

"Oh I can tell you what I want to do but it's not very appropriate." He smirked. My mouth dropped open as I realized what he meant, "Carl!" He laughed.

"I was just kidding." I rolled my eyes and suddenly I had a thought, "Do you want to race?"

He smirked, "I am so going to beat you." I crossed my arms, "Oh yeah? How about we find out?"

We walked outside and stood in front of a trail. "Okay on the count of three like last time." Carl said. "1...2-" "3" I finished as I zoomed past him. The wind blew on my face as I ran as fast as I could. This was the perfect moment; just Carl and I.

Carl caught up to my side, smiled over at me, and then sped past. Wow, he was fast! I tried to catch up but I just couldn't. We ran for about thirty minutes and then suddenly I noticed something up ahead.

"Carl!" I shouted over the wind, "Look!" I pointed with my index finger at a little town in the distance. He stopped in his tracks, "I wonder if anyone lives there."
