Wonder Woman sighed, her breath visible in the cold night. Also known as Diana Prince, she was patrolling the downtown area of Happy Harbor, covering for Aquaman, who wanted some time with his wife. Wonder Woman was assigned to take over his patrol, with her vigilant eyes scanning for any and all signs of distress.
The sound of crying and chattering teeth caught her attention. Wonder Woman turned towards a gap between the houses and discovered a sorrowful sight. The sight alone tugged at her heartstrings, and the sounds made it worse. A young girl, approximately fifteen years old, was curled up, quivering in the cold. Wonder Woman approached her slowly, opting to go as Diana Prince instead of her superhero persona. Diana hoped to avoid scaring the already frightened girl and aimed to offer a gentle presence in the midst of the girl's distress.
Reality unfolded before Diana's gaze; the girl was almost completely defenseless. Against the bitter cold and against others. She lacked shoes and warm attire; she was also small and skinny. The girl was clutching her head in pain. She seemed tormented and lost in the world. "Hey, what's your name, little one?" Diana's empathetic voice cut through the darkness as she gently asked for the girl's name, only to be met with a bewildered silence. It was a haunting revelation—this girl had been robbed of her memories, wandering through life as a nameless enigma.
Driven by her unwavering commitment to protect the vulnerable, Diana made a resolute decision. With a tender embrace, she took the girl under her wing, granting her a name worthy of her newfound journey—Arya.
Within the tranquil training areas, Diana dedicated herself to Arya's development, imparting crucial skills and knowledge. She introduced Arya to the art of self-defense, instilling within her the techniques and instincts necessary to protect herself and others. Moreover, Diana's wisdom extended beyond physical prowess. She unraveled the tapestry of history, illustrating the remarkable contributions of women and serving as a source of inspiration for Arya's journey of self-empowerment. In an environment cocooned by genuine care and support, Arya flourished, her self-confidence blossoming like a radiant sunflower.
However, the calm facade of their training grounds was shattered when strange magical occurrences began to unfold around Arya. Nature's secrets unveiled themselves before her very eyes, as Flora responded to her touch, and fauna danced to her rhythm. Simultaneously, her dormant magical abilities surged to life, intricately linked with her emotions, and imbuing her actions with an otherworldly energy. The bewildering convergence of nature and magic marked Arya as an untrained meta-human, a vessel of immense power entwined within the fabric of existence.
Recognizing the magnitude of Arya's newfound abilities, Diana faced a dilemma. She understood that Arya's potential went far beyond her own expertise, compelling her to seek assistance from her fellow Justice League members.
However, she had kept Arya's presence in her life a secret, making this a pivotal moment not only for Arya but also for the bonds of trust within the alliance of heroes. With slight hesitation, Diana revealed Arya's existence to the other members of the Justice League.
As Diana was their friend, the Justice League had agreed to help her. Both Diana, with the support of being a new parent to a teenage girl with self-esteem issues and to help guide Arya through her newfound and untrained abilities and powers. Those who helped the most were Black Canary along with the Hawk couple.
Arya had seemed to be a bit introverted and on the shy side. But after learning, they knew she was actually just a socially distant girl who had muscul memory of keeping her thoughts to herself. But she opened up, and each saw that she saw the world from a different perspective. Her mind was extremely creative, and she was a quick learner when she was passionate about the topics at hand.
Soon, Martian Manhunter had offered to see if he could help with her memories. His telepathic abilities may unlock at least a few memories. Arya is hesitant but reluctantly agreed, and so Martian Manhunter delved into her mind. He looked around for fragments of memories that could shed light on just *who Arya really was. However, the efforts were met with her memories and were locked away by an impenetrable barrier that shielded her past. Out of not only Martian Manhunter's reach but also Arya's as well. Attempting to break the barrier was met with Arya screaming in pain, clenching her head, and slamming Martian Manhunter out of her head.
With this moment of uncertainty and Arya distancing herself. She was shaken up by the pain just touching the barrier had caused so no one could blame her.
Batman, always the strategic one of the Justice League, proposed an alternative course for Arya. The Justice League couldn't keep helping her out 24/7, so he suggested that Arya join their new convert team. This team, composed of Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, Superboy, and Miss Martain. Along with the other new recruit, Arya would be a good addition. This has also offered an opportunity for Arya to socialize and connect with others of her own age group and build meaningful relationships.
Aqualad was the calmest out of the group and offered guidance and leadership. In all honesty, he was like that nerdy order brother that you could always talk to, and he would remain calm. Kid Flash was energetic and flirtly with every pretty thing. He was like the cousin who would flirt with your best friend. He also had that 'Science can prove anything' mindset. Robin, the mysterious yet resourceful one of the group (also the youngest), was the strategist and hacker of the group and gave off the feeling like he was the annoying little brother. Superboy, the brooding boy who embodied Superman's DNA, and grappled with issues of identity and acceptance. The common brother who was going through an identity crisis. Miss Martian is very bubbly and bright. She wasn't brain smart and fought with her heart on her sleeve.
With each teammate have different personalities and backgrounds, they would be either great friends to Arya or simply co-workers. With her joining the team, it would potentially nurture a sense of belonging and acceptance for the young Arya. Surrender by others who had at least similar or even related struggles with herself. Not only would they be her team, but maybe even a support system with a chosen family, they could be a sanctuary where Arya could find true potential and thrive.
