The soft clicks of their footsteps echoed against the barren walls. Mae's hair bounced with every stride she took, trailing behind like a veil.

Four guards march a comfortable distance away, surrounding her in a square formation; two up ahead and two behind.

The first two stopped in front of a quaint cell, no bigger than a storage closet. Her brow twitched, not the best time to be claustrophobic, she thought. How unlucky for her.

Gulping down her nerves, she watched intensely as they dialled in a code before the cell door opened. She took cautious steps until she was fully inside.

Two of the guards came in and secured the cuffs to thick chains connected to the ground. Promptly leaving after, she hears the loud click of the cell door locking behind.

Alright, you're inside, not too bad.' Mae took in the metal confinement. Her heart dropped; accelerating its rhythm, a sheen of sweat casted on her brown skin.

Out of all the cells, they choose the smallest one?’ Mae’s breathing became erratic, her eyes, crazed, flickered around the small space.

Only a simple light illuminates the dark space. It felt as though the walls were slowly encroaching on her space. She curled her arms tightly towards her sides, to at least calm her nerves.

Squeezing her eyes shut, Mae concentrated on slowing down her quick, short breaths. Grounding herself back to normal, ‘Just…relax. Nothing is going to happen.’ Releasing a heavy sigh there after.

“They definitely did this on purpose,” she grumbled.

It’s been a day…this is so boring,’ Mae lulled her head to the side, stretching her shoulders back for a form of relief.

Her hands remained tightly bound by clunky cuffs with heavy chains running down the underbelly connecting to the metal ground. She sat idly, legs crossed over one another as she waited patiently.

The soft padding of feet against the metallic ground perked her ears. Her eyes lit up with recognition, as the familiar face came to view.

Mae smirked, “I didn’t know you had the heart to betray me, Lilly.” Lilly's eyes avoided Mae's gaze. She looked slightly distraught; her usual thick head of chocolate curls was more untamed.

Her eyes are puffy and red from constant tears. With prominent eye bags developing, tainting her olive skin, almost aging her by a decade.

Her clothes hung loosely almost engulfing her frame in basketball shorts and baggy anime shirt. Mae wrinkled her nose, almost gagging at the scent of Marijuana that was sunk into her close, clinging on like a lifeline.
