Alexis trudged through the dense forest, his mind a storm of emotions. The events of the day weighed heavily on him, each step through the woods echoing his frustration and fear. He needed to clear his head, to think about what to do next, to find a way to save Laura. The air was crisp, and the setting sun cast long shadows through the trees, creating an almost haunting atmosphere.

From their vantage point in the treetops, Brigette and Cristoff watched over Alexis, ensuring his safety without his knowledge. They knew he needed space but also understood the danger that loomed.

"I wish there was something we could do to ease his pain," Brigette whispered, her eyes fixed on Alexis's figure below.

Cristoff nodded, his expression somber. "He needs to find his own way through this, but we'll be here if he needs us."

As Alexis walked, he thought of Laura. Memories of their time together flooded his mind: her laughter, the way her eyes lit up when she was happy, the gentle touch of her hand in his. The thought of her in Theron's clutches filled him with rage and helplessness.

"I promise I'll find you, Laura," he muttered to himself, clenching his fists.

Back at the Ashford house, the family gathered to strategize. Richard, Vicky, Selina, and Vlad sat around the living room, each deep in thought.

"We need to think of every possible place Theron could take Laura," Richard said, his voice filled with urgency.

Vicky sighed, rubbing her temples. "We know he has to be somewhere familiar, somewhere he feels confident. We need to think like him."

Selina nodded. "He's cunning and always one step ahead. We need to consider places he knows well and feels he can control."

Vlad frowned. "The old chapel in the heart of the woods? It's remote and significant to Laura and Alexis. Could he be using that place against us?"

Richard's eyes widened. "It's possible. He knows Laura and Alexis have a connection to that place. It would make sense for him to use it to his advantage."

"We need to search there," Selina added, her voice determined. "We can't leave any stone unturned."

Meanwhile, Alexis stumbled upon a piece of paper half-buried under dried leaves. Picking it up, he unfolded it and read the scrawled message: "Meet me in the old chapel in the heart of the woods tonight alone if you want to see your girlfriend alive."

His heart pounded as he tore the paper into pieces, letting them fall to the ground. He knew he couldn't share this information with the others; he needed to handle this alone.

Brigette and Cristoff, from their position, couldn't see what Alexis was doing. They watched as he turned back towards the Ashford house, their eyes narrowing in suspicion.

Upon returning to the house, Alexis sat in the living room, lost in thought. His silence caught Vlad's attention.

"Is something wrong, Alexis?" Vlad asked, his voice laced with curiosity.

Alexis forced a smile. "Nothing. Just tired."

Rising from his seat, Alexis made his way to Laura's room, gathering a few of his belongings. He slipped into the kitchen, discreetly grabbing a knife and hiding it in his bag before heading for the door.

"Where are you going, Alexis?" Selina's voice stopped him.

"Home," he replied quickly. "Aunt Jane will worry if I don't return tonight."

Richard nodded. "Cristoff, accompany him home. Make sure he gets there safely."

Alexis shook his head. "I can go alone. I'll be fine."

Richard hesitated but then nodded. "Alright, be careful."

As Alexis began his journey, he felt a sense of urgency. He moved quickly through the forest, but soon he felt the sensation of being followed. Knowing he had to act fast, he broke into a sprint, his breath coming in sharp gasps as he raced towards the old chapel.

### **In the Ashford House**

The atmosphere was thick with tension as the remaining family members continued to discuss their next steps.

"Do you think Alexis suspects anything?" Selina asked, her worry evident.

Vlad shrugged. "He's smart, but he's also desperate. We have to trust him, even if it means taking risks."

Vicky sighed. "I just hope we're not making a mistake by letting him go alone."

Richard's face was set in determination. "We have to believe in him. He's stronger than he knows."

As they continued to deliberate, their thoughts were constantly with Laura and Alexis, each hoping for a miracle to bring their family back together.

### **The Old Chapel**

Alexis reached the old chapel, its dilapidated structure looming ominously in the twilight. He slowed his pace, his heart pounding in his chest as he approached the entrance. The silence of the woods around him was deafening, heightening his sense of isolation.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped inside, the creaking of the floorboards echoing through the empty space. He looked around, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. The air was thick with dust and decay, a stark contrast to the memories he had of this place with Laura.

"Theron," he called out, his voice steady despite his fear. "I'm here. Show yourself."

A shadow moved at the far end of the chapel, and Theron emerged from the darkness, a sinister smile on his face. Laura was beside him, her hands bound, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and defiance.

"Alexis," Theron sneered. "You actually came. How touching."

Alexis's eyes locked onto Laura's, his heart aching at the sight of her bound and helpless. "Let her go, Theron. This is between you and me."

Theron laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the chapel. "Oh, but it's so much more interesting with her here, don't you think? Now, let's see how far you're willing to go for your beloved Laura."

The tension in the air was palpable as Alexis faced Theron, his resolve hardening. He knew this confrontation would be the ultimate test of his love and courage, and he was prepared to do whatever it took to save Laura and end Theron's reign of terror once and for all.

Back at the Ashford house, the family members waited anxiously, their thoughts and prayers with Alexis and Laura. The night was far from over, and the battle for their loved ones' safety was just beginning.
