Today was quite cold and gloomy for the excitement in the room. Not to mention the darkening of the sky looked like it was going to rain soon. The girl smiled while pulling a soft white cardigan over herself to prevent the cold from bothering her. Miko smiled more upon noticed the nice bouquet of flowers on her now empty desk.
Peonies. How pretty.
"Good morning, Miko. You look like your in a happy mood."
Nurse Jenny. She was Miko's favorite nurse because she had been with her the longest. Not to mention, she felt more like a friend than her caretaker. Jenny always wore this warm vanilla perfume that you could smell when receiving the best hugs.
"Yeah, I guess so. I'm leaving today so I'm feeling strange."
Nurse Jenny smiled while setting down a tray of hospital food, "Well, just know I'm going to miss you, silly. However, I'm glad your recovery has gone so well to the point you can finally leave."
Miko nodded silently before sitting down so she could eat.
"Your room is so empty now. Has your family come to get everything?"
It was empty. Her walls used to be decorated with anime posters or drawings she made while stuck to her bed. She felt quite comfortable with her room, now it looked like a plain hospital room that would be disinfected once she left. Leaving that weird hospital that scared her initially when she arrived here.
"There are a few more boxes with my stuffed animals but my dad said he would be here soon." Miko replied while grabbing a blanket and stuffed animal shark. She smiled upon remember how she received the cute animal.
Rin had come in holding it behind his back and Sae was right beside him with a fluffy blanket. She missed them so dearly, they were the reason she survived.
"Alright then, Miko. I hope you have a great recovery. I'm going to miss you but I hope you never have to come back." Nurse Jenny said hugging Miko one last time. The small girl relished in the comforting feeling and warmth the nurse had.
Miko sighed as Nurse Jenny left and she was alone. Just a few minutes and she would finally be able to go home. When her father entered her room, she was sitting on her bed holding the blanket and shark plushie.
"Dad!"
"There's my girl!"
Miko smiled as she hugged her father. In the past week, she hadn't seen any of her family and was happy to finally see them.
"I'll take these boxes and we can get you out to the car." Miko's father said before ruffling her hair.
Miko smiled before following after her father and when they got outside, that smell that she hadn't smelled in months came back to her. The smell of clouds yet to rain. Miko paused briefly to look around. Watching from her window didn't do enough justice just to how beautiful the outside looked like.
"Miko?"
The girl quickly snapped out of her daze and ran after her father.
The ride back was quiet and Miko stared outside as the rain started to come down. Maybe it was her father, or the ability to see the outside, or maybe the rain, but she felt a sense of comfort as she laid in her seat. Quiet music played her her ears as she covered herself with the blanket and held the stuffed animal close to her chest.
Just a few more hours and she could finally see her family again.
