CHAPTER 5

I fluttered a few times before opening my eyes. I stared at the ceiling above me recalling everything that happened to me. My eyes shed tears for me and everything I endured until now. I wiped the tears using my hands as a handkerchief. I wanted my mom. I want to cry in her embrace so badly or my aunt. I want one of them with me right now but I know it's impossible. Mom is gone and my aunt cannot come here.

"You are awake, lady" Hearing Martha, I let my eyes fall on her. She looked sad and she watched me with worried and pity-filled eyes. Of course, I am pitiful. She remained silent for a moment and then sighed before printing her lips to tell me something. Whatever she was going to say, she looked so serious about it.

"Congratulations my lady. You are pregnant." what she said wrapped around my heart like a cloth filled with needles.

Already? Too fast! Don't forget it's our nature. I'm pregnant... that means... I have to give this child to them and leave. The feeling of leaving my flesh and blood tore me apart but I have agreed to the agreement and I can't take a step back or run away from here. I smiled faintly, placing my hand on my belly. I'm going to be a mother but why do I only feel sadness?

"You slept for almost a day," she muttered.

A day? It happened in the morning and when I looked out of the window I could see that it was another morning. I sighed. So today is the seventh day. I smiled at her and nodded. But my mind was filled with confusion about the woman who came here yesterday. She acted insane yesterday. How cruel can she be to hit my head against the mirror? So dangerous.

"Mmmm... who was the lady from yesterday?" I hesitantly asked.

"She's Alpha Jungkook's fiancée. They are getting married soon. Miss Jennie is infertile and that's why Alpha Lee Dong-Wook looked for a surrogate and she wasn't informed about it. She suddenly found out and came here. I'm sorry for what happened to you, lady."

Martha will never know how her words completely and brutally poured lava into my heart. I pressed my lips together gripping the sheets so tightly. But... he's my mate. My heart was ripped out of my body and thrown away. That's how I felt. Using every single drop of my strength, I forced my tears into me not wanting to cry. I remained as if I heard nothing while my heart just died in me. This is why I wished he wouldn't have become my mate. He has a fiancée and he's getting married soon. So now I understand why his fiancée was furious like that.

"This child you give birth to will be calling her mom"

Enough!.... More than enough. I looked away from Martha and stared out of the window. How can I trust that woman? If she hurt me like that without a second thought, how would she treat my child? She will hurt my child because she knows I was the one who gave birth to the child. I couldn't bear the pain in my chest. I shut my eyes, forcing myself to go to sleep again. I don't want... I don't want to think about this when I'm helpless and have no way to protect my baby.

7 months later...

"Unnie, I want both a nephew and niece." I laughed when I heard Haerin. She was keeping her ear against my seven-month-old belly listening to the baby's movements. She's more excited to see the baby than I am. I observed Haerin for a long time and I felt happy because she's getting better. She's getting better day by day. She's doing great and she's now playing like a normal kid.

"It's a nephew for you, Haerin." I corrected her.

She cannot have both at once since I'm not pregnant with twins. It's a little boy in my belly. Haerin pouted her pink lips facing me. How can I watch her face of her and tell her that she will never be able to hold her nephew? This is killing me... I covered my pain with a smile and caressed her face before starting to comb her hair and braid it loosely. She lost her hair so much but now her hair has grown and reached her shoulders.
