The Ruling - Bellamy Blake

12. Dax

Clarke and I are talking to the Chancellor and we're told where to go to find some supplies. We walk out and both agree to get Bellamy.

"Bellamy." Clarke says walking over to him.
"The answer is still no. I'm not talking to Jaha."
"That's not why I'm here."
"What then?"
"The Ark found some old records that show a supply depot not too far from here." I say.
"What kind of supplies?"
"The kind that might give us a chance to live through winter."
"We're gonna go check it out, we could use the backup." I say.
"I'll get my stuff, meet you in 10." He says.

After a few minutes Bellamy finds me and I get Clarke. I see Bellamy grabbing a lot of food.
"That's a lot of rations, this is just a day trip." I say a little confused.
"A lot can happen in a day." He says putting the bag over his shoulder. I guess that makes sense. We follow Clarke out.

"You know the first dropship comes down soon. You can't avoid Jaha forever." Clarke says to Bellamy, pushing him to talk to Jaha. We've been trying for days but he fully refuses.
"I can try." Bellamy says handing me some of the beans.

"The depots supposed to be around here somewhere." I say looking around.
"There's gotta be a door."
"Maybe he'll be lenient." Clarke says ignoring us both.
"Look, I shot the man Clarke. He's not just gonna forgive and forget." Bellamy says. "Let's just split up, cover more ground. Stay within shouting distance." He starts walking off.

"You agree with me right?" Clarke asks turning to me.
"I think you should stop pushing him. He's not going to talk to him just because you think he should. Give him time, let him do it because he wants to." I say before walking off as well. Of course I agree that he should talk to Jaha, but he clearly won't just because we want him to.

I start looking around and find a door.
"Bellamy!" I call above me. He looks down at me. "Clarke!" I yell.
"Yeah?" I hear her yell. I can't tell where she is but she doesn't sound far.
"I found a door!"

They both walk over and I try opening it but it won't open.
"I think it's rusted shut."
"Watch your foot." Bellamy says before hitting it with his axe. We all go to lift it and it opens this time. We walk down the stairs and I pull out flashlights for everyone, handing them out.

"You really think this place hasn't been touched since the war?" I ask seeing the dirt and rust growing everywhere.
"A girl can dream." Clarke responds.

We continue walking and see a skeleton on the floor.
"Some place to die." I mutter letting out a shaky breath.
"So much for living down here, this place is disgusting."

"Anything left down here is ruined." Bellamy says.
"They must've distributed most of the supplies before the last bombs went off."

I open a box and see it filled with blankets.
"Hey, I found blankets!" I yell excitedly. It's been getting cold at night, I could so use a blanket.
"Excited about a couple of blankets?" Bellamy asks clearly upset that we haven't found anything "exciting."
"Well, it's something." Clarke says.
"How about a canteen or a med kit or a decent fucking tent." Bellamy says reaching for his hair.

I watch him open a lid and reach in. I turn around looking around me before hearing him kick it over.
"My god." He mutters walking over to it.
"What?" I ask running to his side. He lifts up a gun.

We go through the others and get as many as we can.

Bellamy gets one of the red sheets and writes an x on it and hangs it up.
"This changes everything. No more running from spears. Ready to be badasses?" Bellamy asks.
"To be? We both know I already am." I say to him and he chuckles softly.

"I know we need them, but don't expect me to like it." Clarke says.
"You both need to learn how to do this." Bellamy says. I grab one of the guns and lift it up. I've never held a gun before so I have no idea how to do this.
"Just hold it on my shoulder?" I ask turning to Bellamy.
"Just a little higher now, that end." Bellamy says grabbing my arms to move me to position. I take a sharp breath at the sudden form of contact.
"Yeah, uh. That's good, watch and learn." He says grabbing a gun.
