The Scent of Reunion

The graduation ceremony buzzed with a cacophony of cheers and applause. Hueningkai, perched on the edge of his seat, watched as his best friend, Taehyun, beamed proudly from the stage, his diploma clutched in his hand. A year had flown by since Taehyun had last seen Soobin, the distance between them stretching across continents and time zones.

He'd received a text from Soobin earlier that morning, a simple "Good luck to you!" that warmed his heart. Taehyun knew Soobin was watching the ceremony online, his presence felt even though he was miles away.

The ceremony ended, and Taehyun, surrounded by his family and friends, was showered with congratulations. Taehyun felt a pang of longing for Soobin. He missed him terribly, the ache of their separation a constant companion.

Taehyun's heart pounded as he walked through the familiar doors of his favorite cafe, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and pastries filling his senses. This time, however, he wasn't just a customer. He was here for his interview, a nervous excitement bubbling in his stomach. He'd been working towards this moment for months, pouring over coffee brewing techniques and perfecting his latte art. He knew the cafe's menu by heart, its every nook and cranny, and he was determined to prove himself worthy of a spot on their team.

The interview went smoothly, his passion for coffee and his genuine enthusiasm shining through. A week later, he received the call he'd been waiting for: he was hired. His first few weeks were a whirlwind of learning, mastering the art of pulling the perfect espresso shot and crafting intricate latte art. He thrived in the fast-paced environment, his dedication and quick learning curve impressing his colleagues.

Even after everything he does check up on Beomgyu's band once in a while. After their last meet up Taehyun tried to contact Beomgyu and long story short they became.. somewhat friends. They continued to support each other even after their past together.

Months went by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, a comforting scent that Taehyun had come to associate with his new job. He'd been working at the cafe for a few months now, the steady rhythm of the espresso machine and the chatter of customers a familiar soundtrack to his days. He loved the cafe, the warmth of the wood-paneled walls and the soft glow of the hanging lights. But he missed Soobin.

He hadn't had much time for Soobin lately, their long talks replaced by hurried texts and stolen moments. Whenever Soobin was awake Taehyun was sleeping and it made it hard for them without ruining their sleep schedules. He missed Soobin's warmth, his easy laughter, and the way he could make Taehyun forget about everything else. He remembered Soobin's words, whispered over the phone just a few weeks ago: "I'll come visit you soon." The promise had been a lifeline, a beacon of hope in the midst of his busy schedule.

He was wiping down a table, the familiar motions almost automatic. He hadn't even noticed the bell above the door chime, signaling a new customer. He looked up, his heart skipping a beat. There, standing in the doorway, was Soobin. A smile bloomed on Soobin's face, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Taehyun couldn't help but smile back, a wave of relief washing over him. Soobin was here.

Soobin stood with open arms, his smile widening as Taehyun walked towards him. He ran towards Soobin, the weight of the past few weeks melting away as he was enveloped in Soobin's embrace. The world faded away, leaving only the warmth of Soobin's arms and the comforting rhythm of his heartbeat. He felt as if he was home.

Yuppp I rushed this. y'all probably thought this was a Taegyu huh😹? So basically the title was supposed to draw you in and you guys get shocked when realizing this was actually Taebin story. Basically its about taehyun thinking his first love was Beomgyu when it really was Soobin all along🙀. I would've mentioned it in the "important note" but didn't want to ruin the surprise ☺️. This is the end of it. Lowkey sucked because it is really late and chose to not go to sleep until I finished. If I do post this on wattpad despite its horrible pacing, cringy and bad storyline I'll try to make the next story better.☺️🫰(currently thinking about a skz ff after I finished the "semectric error" yeonbin ff😖)
