It is a short story i wrote as a challenge in an app. I thought i will share it here. It's not perfect it was written in one day. I'm going to write full book but different than this.

------

After another long day at work, a young astronomer was going home across the park. Exhausted, Lucas was admiring the trees around him, the sky, and the little flowers on the ground while thinking about sleeping. He came home at 11 p.m., took a shower, ate a sandwich, and went to his bedroom. He sat at the desk and took out his journal, in which he writes every day about his day, his emotions, thoughts, work, and life. He opened it and saw today's date.

A few pages were written in someone else's handwriting under today's date. His very sleepy eyes opened widely. He turned the pages, confused. "What the hell," he thought. He closed the journal, looked at the wall, and then opened the journal again and started reading those pages that he definitely hadn't written.

The stranger wrote about their day. It was not great, and neither were other days in their life. The frustrated stranger wrote at the end, "You don't deserve it, quit your job or you'll regret it." Lucas was scared. He looked everywhere in the house to see if there was anyone there. It was clear. He sat on the bed, wondering what was going on. Who could it be? Is it someone from work? It must be. Maybe Thomas—he wanted to get promoted but had no chances, but I don't think he would do that. There's also Kayden. He never liked me.

Lucas kept thinking about it. He couldn't sleep and wasn't sure if he should go to the police. He didn't know how the stranger got into his house.

Lucas slept for 2 hours and had to go to work. He almost fell asleep there at his desk. Someone brought him something and put it on his desk and walked away. He took it. It was a little box. He opened it and found a note inside that said, "Hurry up."

After work, Lucas went home. He was a little bit scared to go there alone. He lives alone and has no one; his parents live 250 km away, he doesn't have siblings or a partner.

He opened the door, went to the kitchen to put groceries in the fridge, and then he heard something. He looked behind him and saw nothing. He went to the bedroom quietly. He saw the shape of a man. He stopped and asked, "Who is this?"

"You still don't know?" said the voice in the bedroom. The figure stood up and walked towards Lucas. Lucas took a step back. And then he saw the face of a man he knew.

"You forgot me fast."

"Aiden?" said Lucas. "What the hell are you doing? Why?"

"Oh, Lucas, Lucas. Really? You left me. And forgot me."

"I—I didn't leave you."

"Yes, you did. Took the job 250 km away, moved out, and forgot me."

"Aiden... That was a chance for me... And also..."

"Chance or not, now you will regret it!"

Aiden was holding a knife.

"Aiden, stop it! What are you doing?! I know you wanted something more, but I didn't... I thought you understood."

"You turned on me, how could you?" Aiden started crying and sat on the floor.

They talked for a little about the situation, but Aiden was still mad and didn't understand Lucas, who couldn't believe that Aiden didn't like him this way. Aiden had always wanted to be with Lucas since they met in high school. Lucas tried to avoid him because Aiden never listened to him and followed him everywhere. Lucas moved out and thought it was finally over, but he was wrong. It was worse than he thought. Lucas went to the bathroom because Aiden had calmed down for a bit, and he called the police. Maybe Aiden wouldn't do anything to Lucas, but he wasn't sure. He didn't expect that Aiden would scare him and break into his home with a knife. So you never know.

The police took Aiden, and Lucas told them what happened. The next day, Lucas was home, sleeping all day due to all of this. In the evening, he went out to the park. No one was there; it was dark and quiet, only the sound of the crickets. He was looking at the stars, thinking those are the only lights in his life.
