POV Emmerah Scot
I sighed closing the file tossing it back to the blonde sheriff sat across from me, She stared at me as if I was a bad kid but really I had just fallen in with a bad patch. I do what I can to survive and fit in, and if not who else would care for me? I don't need anyone to feel sorry for me.
"Listen kid, I-I uh I'm going to let you off since it was your first arrest and you were mainly seen as an accessory but I can't do that if I don't know where you live and if this is all we have an you" She started rubbing her temples. I shrugged leaning back in the chair.
"You haven't said a word since you've gotten here why not!"She shrieked her anger visible on her face. I stared at the same stain on the wall not answering her questions. "Swan!"The sharp voice startled me sending chills down my back, both our heads whipped around to see who it was, a tall woman with a pantsuit stood angrily.
The sheriff quickly stood to her feet questioning what was wrong she answered about a problem she had at home but i tuned out her whining and focused on my own plans. I needed to get out of here, away from curious eyes and interrogations. There voices came to pause I looked their way to see the brunette woman staring at me, I turned my head but realized she wasn't dropping her gaze after a while, I made a face at her but she continued to stare... "that's quite rude did no one ever teach you that child" She spat, I shrugged "Swan, why is she here?"She asked " Breaking an entering , possession of weapon, theft, underage possession of alcohol" 'Swan' says heavily sighing after, "hm, first time assist in our town so she should have been discharged an hour ago but I have no where to release her to" Emma said
The brunette rolled her eyes, " don't matter she just be released" Regina said I smirked standing from my chair running out before she could say anything. I ran as far from the sheriffs office as I could stopping to catch my breath between some shops, I kept traveling towards a neighbor hood hopping to find an empty house or just somewhere to stay.
After long it was dark and I kept noticing a huge house in the corner of my eye the lights would flicker on and off and it looked pretty barren to me, I got up from the ground and started to walk out of the little spot beneath the trees I'd fallen asleep in and walked towards it, after a short walk I examined the outside of the house and saw a shiny little object next to the door, a key!
I grabbed it sliding it onto the keyhole slowly opening the door and locking it bend me I dropped the key in the floor and continued to walk further into the house without the lights on, i went up the stairs after looking at all the downstairs, the house was really clean and lavish but it still looked like no one lived here, I wandered into the biggest bedroom and looked around for a bit more before throwing myself back on the bed exhaling loudly, I was so tired.
I ran away from my family because of how they treated me and now I'm doing this just to get by. I heard the front door slam and I jumped up from under the covers and ran to the closet, the lights came in on in the house and I heard conversations but it sounded more like a phone call.
As I crouched in the closet, trying to steady my breathing, I strained to hear the conversation. It was muffled, but I could make out a few words: "swan," and "Sydney." My heart pounded in my chest, and I pressed myself further into the clothes, hoping they wouldn't check the closet.
