It begins with excited conversations around the stands, some shouting their excitement while others are more calm in comparison. Every once in a while, someone will laugh at another's comment, about what no one knows. Like a wave, it grows in volume until it reaches its peak and lowers again, repeating itself until finally, the lights shut off.
The static of excitement can be felt throughout the stands and the stage, through whooping and shouts of joy, until everyone starts to hush themselves so that the show, the entertainment everyone paid for to see, can begin.
It's starts off quiet, and then-
WOAH! screams a large crowd
A single spotlight and a lone figure underneath can be seen at the very front of a stage. The man is wearing a white coat. with red pants, a white top hat, a hand-free microphone and a tall cane. As he moves into a pose, his arms extend in front of him clutching his cane with both hands and feet apart. he crosses one leg behind the other and twists himself in a way that he has his cane in one hand, helping him keep balance and his arm extended away from him, the other arm bent in front of his back facing the audience and coat tails standing still, everything is silent, except for the audience's feet pounding into the stands in the same pattern as before and the new audience members who whoop in excitement.
WOAH!
He moves again, this time in the opposite direction and his feet together, the arm with the cane now bent over his head, seeming to be pointing at something in the ground, and his other arm extended in the direction the cane is pointing to.
WOAH!
This time when he moves, he turns his head more towards the audience as he takes up the original position he started in. Only a single stomp is used, even the new audience members seem to know the change, especially when the man seems to take a quick breath and begins to sing.
"Ladies and gents this is the moment you've waited for."
WOAH!
As the audience stomps, the man moves parallel to the stands he's closest to while also stepping closer to an adjacent stand. His front except his face is now turned towards the audience, his cane extended to the side of him to help him keep balance. His head is still tucked low, his face in shadows.
"Been searching in the dark, your sweat soaking through the floor."
WOAH!
He snaps his head to the front audience while the audience stomps, his entire front facing the stands closest to him now. As he sings, he drags a hand delicately around the rim of his hat before gracefully dragging his hand over the other on his cane, his grey eyes, with blue irises now glistening in the spotlight.
"And buried in your bones there's an ache that you can't ignore. Taking your breath, stealing your mind. And all that was real is left behind."
He spins his cane in one hand, tosses it into the air, and then catches it before walking with purpose to a corner of the stage.
"Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at ya. It's only this moment, don't care what comes after."
As he gets into position, he lifts his arms, his cane still in hand, and a large spotlight in the center of the stage lights up with a path of lights leading from where the lone figure stood to the center of the stage.
"Your fever dream, can't you see it getting closer."
His face is mostly covered by shadow but his grin and mess of curly white hair under his top hat can be visibly seen from the stands as he shifts from one foot to the other, seemingly preparing for something.
