There was a firm knock at the door. "May I come inside?" Taehyung called out, waiting for a response from within. As a senior police officer and an undercover agent in the CBI, he worked in Busan under the guise of an ordinary cop. Taehyung was known for his cold, merciless demeanor, a man of few words whose aura commanded silence the moment he entered a room. His muscular build and exceptional fitness made him one of the youngest yet most formidable officers in the department. He never lost his composure, and no one dared to speak unless it was absolutely necessary. Jokes were foreign to him, as he had little time or patience for them.
As Taehyung knocked on the door, he heard the firm voice of Commissioner General Park Seo Joon granting him permission to enter.
Park Seo Joon was engrossed in his documents and didn't bother looking up. "Yes, Officer Kim. May I know the reason you are here, leaving your work?"
Commissioner General Park Seo Joon, a man with a heart of stone, never second-guessed his decisions once made. He had trained Taehyung in the military, instilling in him a relentless discipline. His words were as unyielding as stone, his eagle eyes capable of detecting a lie without needing to see the person. His voice carried the weight of death, and he commanded a wide berth at work.
Taehyung took a cautious step back, knowing that one wrong word could end everything. Yet, he had something important to discuss, more pressing than his current duties. He entered the room, giving a salute and standing firm and motionless.
Reaching into his pocket, Taehyung took out a letter. But before he could speak, Park Seo Joon interrupted.
"If you are here to discuss the transfer letter, come back at 5 p.m. sharp. Dismissed."
Taehyung, though shocked, maintained his cold composure. He saluted once more and left the room, his mind racing with thoughts.
Taehyung returned to his desk, his mind racing. The letter he received that morning had ignited a fury within him, leaving him seething. He craved a reason, a damn explanation for his transfer. He wanted to storm into Park Seo Joon's office and demand answers, but instead, he restrained himself, his thoughts and inner fire contained as he sat firmly in his chair, waiting for the clock to strike 5.
He glanced at the clock and raised his eyebrows in frustration—it was only 12 PM. Five hours to go. Damn, five hours. Determined to make the time pass, he tried to open some files, attempting to focus until he could take a break. But his mind refused to cooperate. The words from the letter screamed inside his head, his anger simmering just below the surface. He slammed the file shut, his fingers curling into fists. Closing his eyes, he tried to calm himself, but the rage within him was about to erupt.
Just then, his phone rang. He opened his eyes, took a deep breath, and answered the call.
"Yes, officer," Taehyung said.
"Sir, there's an emergency at the XXX building. A fire has broken out, and although the fire brigade is on the way, it's quickly getting out of control," the officer reported.
Taehyung's sharp eyes turned serious. "I'll be there in five minutes."
Without wasting any time, Taehyung dashed out of the station. He started his police car and sped off to the site, his focus now solely on the emergency ahead.
Taehyung sped the car through the bustling streets, pulling out his radio to call the station.
"Hear me out. There's an emergency at the XXX building. I need 20 officers on-site immediately to clear the area for the fire brigade. I want the fire brigade there in three minutes. Over and out."
Arriving at the site in a flash, Taehyung saw chaos unfold. People were screaming, and cops were evacuating the area. His cold, dead eyes scanned the scene with a laser focus. An officer spotted him and rushed over.
