Rory and Amy looked as though they were still trying to wrap their heads around what I had said.
“So…” Amy began, “What you’re saying is that he forgot how to fly the TARDIS, and he doesn’t know he forgot and he still doesn’t remember that he forgot AND now he remembers?” She looked at me as though willing me to tell her she was right, like she didn’t want to have to try and explain it again or have it explained to her.
I laughed, noticing this. “Yup.” I answered. “But, that still doesn’t explain WHAT was controlling the TARDIS.” Said Rory.
I nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right,” I agreed, “but what could it be? I haven’t seen much, but nothing like this has ever happened to me. Then again,” I added, “I don’t even HAVE a TARDIS, so…” I trailed off.
“How old d’you have to be to get one? A TARDIS?” Asked Amy curiously. “There’s no point in asking the Doctor, he stole his.” She added. I nodded. “I don’t remember much, but I think you have to be--” I was cut off by another loud noise.
We all looked over at the Doctor. He was hitting the console with a sledgehammer. I looked at him incredulously. “Does that even help anything?” I asked him. He glanced at me, then looked back at what he was doing, stopping mid-swing to answer.
“Not really.” He admitted.
“Then why-?” But before I could finish my question, he resumed slamming the hammer on the console. I rolled my eyes and shook my head, looking back at Amy and Rory. Amy was smiling. Rory still looked confused, presumably about the whole The-Doctor-Forgot-How-To-Fly-The-TARDIS-And-Then-Remembered thing.
“Come on,” said Amy finally, breaking the almost silence, “Let’s go see what he’s doing.” We all walked over to the Doctor. “What are you doing?” asked Amy. He looked at her but didn’t respond. She glared at him, and then looked at me. “I hate it when he does that.”
“I’m sorry, Pond, but I’m busy right now trying to figure out how I forgot to fly the TARDIS!” Amy and Rory looked at me. “I thought you said he didn’t know!!” said Rory. “Its not MY fault! I didn’t know that he knew he didn’t know!” I replied defensively. “Well, I’m not saying that anymore. Far too confusing.” I added.
“Alright, alright kids, calm down!” said the Doctor, “I know you all underestimated my superior intelligence…” –Amy rolled her eyes again- “… but as soon as Sarah pointed out the symbol on the screen, I knew.”
I frowned. “But the symbol I pointed to was a random one.”
“No it wasn’t. It was Gallifreyian for ‘remember’.” He replied.
I was surprised. “Really? Cool.”
He grinned and started to say something else, but before he could even start, Amy interrupted him. “Alright! We get that you guys are gonna be best friends. You have a lot of time to think and talk later! Right now we have more important things to deal with, alright?”
“Pond, I – No, you’re right. We need to figure out what’s going on here.” Said the Doctor.
Amy smirked. “I am right a lot aren’t --” she was interrupted by …
A knock. On the TARDIS door.
"What? How is that even possible?" said Rory. "We're in the middle of space!"
“The middle?” said the Doctor. “The MIDDLE? We’re not in the middle of space, we’re more--”
“I didn’t literally mean the middle of space, I meant we are IN space.” Rory said, cutting him off.
“Well?” said Amy, causing all of us to look at her.
“Well what?” said the Doctor
“Aren’t you gonna answer it?”
“Right. Answer it. Yes.”
The Doctor went over to the door and opened it.
“Doc-torrrrrrrrr” rasped an unseen voice from outside.
Then, without warning, the Doctor was yanked out of the TARDIS and the doors slammed shut. We all rushed to the doors and yanked them open. But it was too late.
The Doctor was gone
