In a small, picturesque town nestled between rolling hills and a shimmering lake, two children formed a bond that seemed unbreakable.

Samantha and Rahul spent their days exploring the nearby woods, building forts from fallen branches, and dreaming of grand adventures. One summer afternoon, the sun casting dappled shadows through the trees, they sat on their favorite rock by the stream.

Samantha: "Rahul, promise me we'll always be friends, no matter what."

Rahul: "Of course, Sam. Best friends forever!"

They sealed their promise with a pinky swear, laughing as they splashed water at each other. But childhood promises can be tested by time and circumstances. That test came sooner than either of them expected.

One evening, as the sky turned shades of pink and orange, Samantha's parents sat her down with heavy hearts.

Mr. Carter (Samantha's father): "Samantha, we have some news. My job is transferring us to another city. We'll be moving next month."

Samantha's eyes welled up with tears. She ran out of the house and straight to Rahul's place. Breathless and sobbing, she shared the devastating news.

Samantha: "I don't want to leave you, Rahul. How will we stay in touch?"

Rahul: "We'll write letters. Every week. Promise?"

Samantha: "Promise."

The day of the move arrived too quickly. Samantha and Rahul hugged tightly, both fighting back tears.

Samantha: "I'll miss you so much."

Rahul: "Me too. But remember our promise."
