Pearl's Pov

I sighed, standing at the counter. People came and went and I said a polite, "Hello," to my friends Ruby and Sapphire. They came around frequently to see me. The two of them were great friends. But then... Something new happened.
A girl with brown hair and golden highlights walked in, dark skin seemingly radiant. She was beautiful, in short. She walked up to the counter and grinned at me.
"Hey," she said. She ordered a plain black coffee and I obliged. I asked if she'd just moved to the town, possibly from the city. She'd moved from a place called Beach City.
I'd never gotten many chances to see the beach, and as no one was coming in, we chatted for a bit. It was great. That night, I went home thinking of her. Of her radiant skin, her beautiful eyes, gorgeous features. She'd even told me her name. Amethyst.

the next day, as I'd expected, she returned. I grinned, probably looking insane. She waved and smiled. She ordered a simple black coffee, same as last time. She seemed to have gotten more beautiful since the last time I'd seen her.
I shook such foolish thoughts out of my head and went back to work. We chatted yet again. When closing time came, she said something that made me flush.
"Would you like to... Um... Meet up with me for dinner or something sometime?" I wasn't sure how to respond. "I... I don't even know you..." She blushed, said a quick, "Bye," and left.

She came by for weeks still, afterwards, everyday chatting with me. Finally, she asked again if I would meet her for a dinner date. I said I would be happy to oblige.
We met up at a little restaurant settled into the middle of town. We stayed quiet for the first few minutes and then she said, "What have you been up to?" I hadn't done anything and answered truthfully.
"What've you been doing?" I asked. She shrugged. "Nothing really. Gotta keep my schedule open incase something big comes up," she said I chuckled. She smiled. It made me feel warm, seeing that smile.
The dinner date went smoothly and I was glad. I was really in love with her. At the end of the date, she said, "Come 'ere!" So I leaned down. She pressed her lips to mine. I blushed but kissed back.
The next day at the shop, we talked about the date and she was able to meet Ruby and Sapphire. They thought she was a good woman and even emphasized how cute we were together. Of course I got all red in the face but I almost always did when it came to these kind of things. Especially when it was Ruby and Sapphire, who are my gayest friends.
They gushed over us and she gushed over me and I gushed over her. Normally when your gayest friends talk about you being gay you kind of get weird about it. Or I always have. Now it just felt... Right. It was actually pretty fun.

We ended up being girlfriends and, needless to say, she kept coming to the coffee shop. I loved her so much. I don't know what it was that made me so attracted to her. Her smile, her personality, how she made me all warm and fuzzy inside. It all factored into my love for this woman. I even asked her to marry me...
But that's a story for another time.
