Author's POV

The moment Jieun arrived inside the classroom, she immediately took a seat on her designated chair, took out her phone and airpods as she listened to music.

"Hey NiNi! How are you doing?", Chaehyun asked her.
"I'm doing great!", Jieun said in reply.
"We've heard that some random guys almost dragged you to go clubbing with them. Is that true?", Gaeul asked her.
"Yeah, but don't worry! I didn't agree to go with them. They may seem nice, but my instincts were telling me to run immediately..", she said.
"I'm glad that you trusted your instincts!", Chaehyun said.
"By the way.. how did you guys know about that?", Jieun asked them.
"Umm.. we just heard it from Jake..", Gaeul said as Jieun turned to look at Jake.
"Sorry! They overheard me, talking to Sunghoon and Heeseung hyung about it..", he said.
"It's fine..", she told him with reassurance.
"Did Jay told you about it, that's why you knew?", Gaeul asked him.
"Mhm..", he hummed in response.
"Oh.. speaking of the devil, thankfully he came to my aid that night..", Jieun said, referring to Jay.
"Really?", Chaehyun said.
"Mhm! He even took me home, since he doesn't want those two random guys to follow me..", Jieun said.
"Wow! He may be a jerk right now but.. he's way better than Jisung in terms of being a gentleman, 'cause from what I can recall, Jisung never did something like dropped you off at home way back then.", Gaeul said.
"And he doesn't want to go to your house or even bothered visiting uncle!", Chaehyun said, referring to Jieun's dad.
"Yeah! That's why dad was so skeptical about him and told me to stay away from him as soon as possible..", Jieun said when the door suddenly opened as Jay walked in.
"Let's just talk later..", Chaehyun told her.

They suddenly stopped talking about him as Jay immediately sat beside Jieun on her right, while she continued to listen to music while waiting for their professor and tried her best not to look at him, unsure if she should act casual or still formal to him.

"Am I making you uncomfortable?", he suddenly asked her.
"Uhhh... no? Why'd you ask?", she asked him.
"Nothing, 'cause you were slightly distancing yourself away from me..", he said.
"No I'm not!", she said.
"Don't be afraid of me! I won't hurt you..", he told her.
"You're telling me not be afraid of you, and that you won't hurt me? You've hurt me in so many different ways that you couldn't even imagine, Jay! You've bullied me, you made me question my existence, you made me feel worthless, and you created many reasons for me to be afraid of going to school! Actually, there's more that I can add to the list, so don't create promises if you're not meant to keep it, Jay...", she told him.
"You think I had the guts to take advantage of your kindness? I may have done some things but.. I will never do that to you, Jieun..", he said.
"How am I supposed to trust you, then?", she said as she raised an eyebrow.
"Why is it so hard for you to trust someone?!", he said.
"You know.. if only we were close and if only you didn't bully me, I would've told you the whole story! But because of what you did to me back then, I think that's enough reason that you shouldn't be trusted, in fear that you'll just make fun of who I am!", she said.

Jieun immediately went back on listening to music and decided to play a game to distract herself while waiting for their professor to come in.

Jay's POV

The moment I arrived at school, I immediately went straight inside the classroom. The moment I entered, I suddenly noticed that Jieun, Gaeul and Chaehyun immediately stopped talking the moment I came inside. Are they talking about me? I thought to myself as I sat beside Jieun on my permanent seat. The moment I took out my phone from my bag, I immediately noticed Jieun, slightly distancing herself from me. Is she avoiding me? I thought to myself.
