                                                                                             Isla

I sit there eating my jellies wondering why in this cursed world would the prince be kind to me? Someone who has killed many of his guards. My stomach is not complaining much though.

"So, are you going to sit there all stoic or are you going to make some conversation?" I say mouth full of jelly. He turns around to me can cocks his head to side almost like a dog. "Alright I take that as a no, but just so you know I am quiet known for my conversation." I say with a wink.

"I though you said you were known for killing the guards?" I look over to my new neighbor. She's been watching me and has been watching for a while.

"Ah she speaks! Ugh thank whatever god is up there! I thought I was going to have to make conversation with pretty boy prince over here." I cock my head to the side in his direction. "Okay prince, yes you cleared me earlier so it's one to zero and you guessed it! You are the one with the point! So now can you speak, I know I am an eye catcher, but this is starting to get a little weird with you just staring." I nudge trying to have some fun with the Zaidin.

"But love it's my job. Even though I think I enjoy looking at you, I do get paid for it." He says with the crazy confidence that he just carries on his sleeve. I get a little flustered and feel the heat coming up to my cheeks, so I turn my face to the girl next to me.

"Hey Red, what is your name anyway? Since you already know mine, it's only fair." I say flipping on my abdomen so I can get closer to her.

"Oh, my name is Blythe." She says her eyes are still red from crying. She makes me sad for her. Blythe has the face that makes her look like her puppy just died. Her eyes are bright blue as opposed to her hair that is bright red, she is very beautiful, and I feel a tinge of jealousy in my gut.

The last time I got the chance to look in the mirror I had gray eyes and light brown curly hair, which is always frizzy because I never got the time to maintain it and I certainly have the time now, but with what? I now live in a cold cell that consists of a bucket when I need to relieve myself or if I ever need to throw it at a deserving guard, which has happened before.

"Hi Blythe, I'm Isla. Sorry I didn't really need your name because I am pretty set on calling you Red." I say grinning ear to ear. "I can tell we're going to be best friends. Why did they put a pitiful girl like you in here anyway?" I ask because I don't know when to shut my mouth.

"Uh well," She swallowed. "I killed a guard." Blythe barely gets out before looking at the prince like he's going to mutilate her for confessing.

"Haven't we all?" I say sitting up because now I am very intrigued. "So, he obviously deserved it, but please tell me what he did, I need some kind of drama." I say almost too excitedly, hopefully I don't scare her off.

"It's quiet an assumption to think that all guards do something to get killed." The prince argues looking toward me. I drop my mouth open sarcastically.

"Ah! He speaks too! This is the best day of my life!" I scream while smiling on my back. "So anyway Red, what did he do?" I roll back over, propping my hands under my chin ready to listen to her story.

"I caught him trying to do things to my mom." She sniffles, "I told him to get off but instead he pressed a knife to her throat and," Blythe starts crying again, I sit still not knowing what to do, I'm not good in situations like this. "Instincts just took over and I grabbed the closest thing which at the time was a bread knife and well, I'm here now. I didn't mean to kill him, it just happened, and I am so sorry, and I will apologize until Death takes me. I just can't believe-"
