NATALIE KANE
In an instant, I flew down the steps, Cody following closely behind. I wedged myself in between Alpha Jason and Jenna, terrified of what he might do to her.
"Please, Alpha," I begged, blocking Jenna behind me. "Let me explain. I haven't told her anything, I swear."
"Then how the hell did she find the pack house? It's not like it's out in the open, it's in the middle of the fucking woods." Jason's demeanor completely changed from how he spoke to me earlier that day, reminding me of the first time we met. He was calloused and cold, with no ounce of compassion behind his eyes, which were piercing daggers right through me.
Tears threatened to roll down my cheeks as I opened my mouth to plead my case, but Jenna interrupted me.
"I tracked the location on her phone," she scoffed.
I clapped my hand to my forehead as I remembered we set our phones to share our locations with each other after Dylan had threatened me at the police station, just in case. In the midst of all the chaos that transpired over the past week, it never even crossed my mind to turn it off.
Jenna looked from me, to Jason, to Cody, then back at me again with fury in her eyes, which quickly turned to worry. "Alpha? Pack house? What the fuck is going on, Natalie?" She clutched her chest as she began to slightly panic. "Is this a cult? Are you in a cult?"
I shook my head, then turned to face Cody. "Can you take Jenna up to our room? I really need to talk to Alpha Jason, alone."
"Are you sure?" His face was etched with concern.
"Yes. I love Jenna, but she's a bit of a loose cannon. I don't want her to keep shooting her mouth off in front of him, making him more angry. I need to explain things to him without distractions, and I need you to keep her occupied."
Jason was growing more impatient by the second. "Enough with the mind linking." He turned to face me. "Natalie, my office. Now," he said, sternly.
I nodded. "Yes, Alpha."
As I was following him out of the room, I heard Cody say to Jenna, "Come on. We'll wait for Natalie in my room."
"Like hell I'm going anywhere with you alone."
Cody sighed. "Please don't make me have to carry you. I promise, everything will be made sense of in a bit." He paused. "I just hope we still have a home after this," he whispered.
That last statement pulled right at my heart strings. I had to try everything in my power to make things right, not just for me, but more so for Cody, especially after just learning what happened to his parents. I couldn't let him suffer the same fate.
After reaching Alpha Jason's office, he angrily slammed the door behind us, causing me to jump. "You put me in a really shitty position, Natalie," he shouted. "What the fuck am I supposed to do?" He ran his fingers frantically through his hair.
"I know, I know. This looks really bad. And I feel like such an asshole because I've caused so many problems. But you have to understand my perspective."
Jason narrowed his eyes at me.
I took a deep breath. "I was not raised as a werewolf," I continued. "I didn't even know I was one until about a week ago. I grew up with human friends and family, and formed close relationships with them. Now granted, I don't really have any family left, none that I talk to on a regular basis anyway, but Jenna has been my best friend for over a decade. She's like a sister to me, and we would do anything for each other. I can't just disappear and not have her scour the entire universe looking for me, especially after all I went through with my ex husband."

The Wolf That Saved Me
Werewolf** "Hey," I squeaked back. I didn't know why he was so intimidating, but for some odd reason, I kind of liked it. It wasn't a scary intimidating, I wasn't afraid of him at all. He was intriguing, sexy, and a man who screamed danger, but at the same...
