It happened. I said I wasn't going to get this drunk yet here I am, stumbling out of the neon lights and into the fluorescence of the street lamps. The thumps of techno slowly faded into the distance as I pulled out my phone.
Do I even know anyone? I wondered. Sam is in the next town over with Johnny, and my family.. well, they wouldn't want to see me like this. I clicked on a familiar number that I hadn't called in forever.
"Hello?" The voice was clear like the Caribbean sea, smooth like velvet, soft and sweet like cotton candy. I missed it.
"Hey Kerry... it's me, Faye." To say I was nervous is an understatement. I was outright terrified. Please don't hang up.
"Oh, hey, what's up?" He spoke as though we had seen each other earlier in the day. It was comforting.
"Um, this is embarrassing." I forced my voice to be clear despite the slight obvious slurring. "So I went out to drink with some friends, and they left without me... God this is so fucking stupid, I'm sorry to bother you."
"Wait!" He yelled over the phone before I tried to hang up. "Where are you?"
"Lizzy's." I heard a quick 'Alright', before the line went dead.
About 30 minutes later a luxury Delamain quickly pulled in front of me, the back passenger window rolling down, our eyes meeting.
"Faye?" His voice was soft as I opened the door and stepped into the car.
"Hey... Kerry."
