Something ugly came from the worm. Indy could see it only in the supernatural. "You're the bastard who challenged me at the beginning at the museum. The one in the stone that I punched and injured my arm."

"Yes, Dr. Jones. And you have fallen into my traps, because it brought you here. You will release us, yet."

"I don't think so, bastard spirit."

It laughed. "You saw what happened in the mirror. And that wasn't even a magical mirror."

"Yeah, I saw," Indy grimaced, setting his face like flint.

"Then you know what it takes."

"If that means I prevent you from escaping - then I'll take that chance and drink that cup," Indy growled.

The creature looked at him. "You quote ancient Scripture at me? Or reference your encounter with the Holy Grail? The cup of Christ won't protect you from death. The elixir from the Temple of Doom would have.... "

"The cup from the Temple of Doom took away my free will. It made me a helpless slave to your darkness. I won't have that again. And I won't let you pour that out on the people I care about!"

"You could have been our high priest."

"I was your slave. I didn't like it."

"For a man who doesn't believe in the supernatural, you know many Scriptures. And you recognize me for who I am...."

"You respond to ancient wisdom," Indy replied. "The Book of Enoch details most of it. Your kidnapping and slavery of women, how you used your power to create dark magic that would destroy humanity - and now the whole world has multiplied that into a pact of nuclear arms and mutually assured destruction. How a greater god sent a flood to destroy your kind."

"But he failed and we came back."

"The legends go on," Indy continued. "You were punished and ended up in chains of gloomy darkness."

"Do you believe that?"

"Abaddon - I can see you're chained and you're a pathetic worm. Looks like the legends are right. They always seem to be right, even when I don't want to believe them. As for the grail... we'll see. I know as well as the next person that you'll end up in the lake of fire - and looks like I'm right. Be gone!"

Indy swung the sword.
